Hostinger Reach can automatically follow up with subscribers who did not open a campaign or who opened it but did not click. To set one up, create a campaign-based automation, select the campaign, activate the automation, send the campaign, add a wait, then choose the engagement condition and customize the follow-up email.

Choose the right campaign follow-up

Reach offers two campaign-based re-engagement flows. Both are tied to a selected campaign, but they target different responses and call for different follow-up messages.

Flow Who receives the follow-up How to tailor the message
Did not open Subscribers who did not open the selected campaign during the evaluation period. Try a different subject line and preview text: these subscribers have not seen the original email.
Opened but did not click Subscribers who opened the selected campaign but clicked no link during the evaluation period. Make the next action or offer clearer, with a more direct call to action.

These are responses to a particular campaign, not general inactivity. For the distinct segment-triggered workflows, see Hostinger’s Reach drip campaign automation guide.

Set up a campaign-based re-engagement automation

  1. Open Automations. From the Reach dashboard, open Automations, create a new automation, choose the follow-up type, then select the template for non-openers or non-clickers.
  2. Select the campaign. The detailed Hostinger re-engagement guide demonstrates selecting a campaign in Draft status. Choose the campaign in the workflow. The editor’s available campaign options may vary; follow the options shown in your current account.
  3. Activate the automation, then send the campaign. In the documented setup, activate the automation first. Then open Campaigns and send the selected draft. Reach starts monitoring engagement after the campaign is sent; selecting a campaign alone does not start the follow-up sequence.
  4. Add a wait. Insert a delay before the engagement check. Reach supports a relative wait in hours, days, or weeks, or a fixed date and time. Hostinger describes two to three days as a common period for subscribers to check email, and separately recommends waiting at least one day in its best-practices guidance. These are recommendations, not a mandatory setting: choose a relative wait when you want to assess behavior after the same elapsed time for each subscriber, or a fixed date for a deadline or event.
  5. Set the engagement condition. Choose Did not open or Opened but did not click. The condition can evaluate a campaign selected in that step. By default, it uses the trigger campaign, though the guide says you can change that selection. Subscribers who meet the condition continue to the email step.
  6. Customize the follow-up email. Match its subject, preview text, and body to the recipient’s behavior. Keep it concise and avoid excessive reminders. Review the workflow, then activate it if it is not already active.

Make the follow-up relevant to the behavior

For subscribers who did not open

Assume the original subject line and preview text did not persuade the subscriber to open. Use a meaningfully different subject and preview, while keeping the message tied to the same campaign or offer. Repeating the original email unchanged may give the recipient no new reason to engage.

For subscribers who opened but did not click

They saw the email but did not follow a link. Bring the intended next step into clearer focus: explain what the link leads to, make the value of taking action easy to understand, and use a direct call to action. Avoid treating an open as proof that the subscriber wants repeated reminders.

Campaign follow-ups and segment-triggered re-engagement are different

Reach also has a separate set of re-engagement templates triggered when a contact joins a chosen segment. Those flows address broader audience states or milestones rather than a response to one selected campaign.

Workflow What starts it Typical purpose When contacts qualify
Campaign-based follow-up A selected campaign is sent; the workflow then checks for an open or click condition after a wait. Follow up on a specific campaign response. After the campaign is sent and the condition is evaluated.
Segment-triggered re-engagement A contact joins a selected segment. Inactivity win-back, anniversary reward, or feedback request. The documented flow applies to contacts joining after activation, not contacts already in the segment.

For segment-triggered flows, Reach settings can determine whether the automation runs every time a contact joins or only for new contacts. Hostinger notes that CSV-imported contacts are excluded from the new-contacts-only behavior. Segments can use conditions such as subscription status, campaign engagement, source, and tags. Hostinger’s Audience Segmentation guide says free Reach supports up to three usable segments, while paid plans support unlimited segments for campaigns and automations; check the current plan details in Reach because plan features can change.

Review the automation report and decide what to change

Reach’s automation report shows started, in-progress, completed, and failed counts. Step details include opens, clicks, click-to-open rate (CTOR), bounce rate, unsubscribe rate, email details, click maps, and recipient data. Use these observations to judge whether the follow-up is reaching and engaging its intended audience, and whether bounces or unsubscribes are rising. Adjust the wait, audience condition, or message only when the reported behavior gives you a reason to do so; the available metrics do not guarantee that an automation will improve a campaign’s results.
