To block a country on Hostinger, open the website’s CDN settings, go to Traffic blocking, and add a country rule. Hostinger’s CDN applies the rule using the geographic location tied to each visitor’s IP address. That makes it a useful access-control layer, but not a guarantee: Hostinger states that VPNs and proxy servers can let visitors get around country restrictions.

Steps to block a country in Hostinger CDN

Hostinger’s help articles describe the following path. Dashboard labels can change, so if your screen differs, look for the CDN settings and the Traffic blocking section of the website you want to protect.

  1. In the Hostinger dashboard, open Websites.
  2. Choose Dashboard for the website you want to protect.
  3. Open CDN settings and click Manage.
  4. In Traffic blocking, click Block country or Add country block.
  5. Select the countries you want to restrict, then confirm with Block.

Choose between block mode and allow-only mode

Country rules work in one of two mutually exclusive modes. Only one can be active at a time, and the mode you pick determines which visitors are affected.

Mode What it does Typical use
Block selected countries Denies visitors whose IP address geolocates to a selected country. Everyone else can reach the site. You want to stop traffic from specific countries and keep the rest of the audience open.
Allow only selected countries Permits visitors from the selected countries and blocks all others. Your legitimate audience, customers and integrations sit in a short list of regions.

Warning: switching between the two modes clears the existing country list, and Hostinger states this cannot be undone. Copy your current list before you change modes, then re-enter the countries under the new mode.

Remove or edit a country rule

  1. Return to Traffic blocking in the website’s CDN settings.
  2. Click the trash icon beside the rule you want to remove.
  3. Confirm the deletion.

What country blocking can and cannot do

  • It relies on IP geolocation. The rule assumes an IP address maps to the visitor’s real location. Mapping databases are not perfect, so a visitor may be assigned to the wrong country.
  • It can be bypassed. Hostinger notes that VPNs and proxy servers can let visitors bypass country restrictions. Treat the rule as one layer of access control, not as identity verification or a complete security boundary.
  • It can block legitimate services. A payment gateway callback, form submission, login, or API request that originates in a blocked country may be denied, even when the site owner did not intend that outcome.

When a legitimate request is denied

Hostinger’s troubleshooting guidance for blocked legitimate requests covers forms, logins, APIs, and callbacks. Use these steps before you loosen a rule.

  1. Identify the failing request: note the full URL, the HTTP method, and the service that sent it, such as a payment provider, form tool, monitoring service, or API client.
  2. Record the response status code. A 403 response is the most common sign of a block.
  3. Collect the x-hcdn-request-id value from the response where it is available. Support will need it to trace the request.
  4. Check the CDN security settings. A 403 can come from security filtering rather than from a country rule.
  5. If the caller could plausibly be in a restricted region, review the country and IP rules and adjust only the entry that matches the failing traffic.

Reading CDN analytics and origin logs

Country-blocked requests can appear in CDN analytics. Hostinger says the CDN counts them before it returns the 403, so an analytics entry shows that a request arrived at the edge, not that it reached your site.

If a blocked country still appears in your origin logs, Hostinger lists three possible explanations:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • The request happened before the block was added.
  • The IP database assigns the visitor to a different country than expected.
  • The request bypassed the CDN by connecting directly to the hosting server.

Checking which of these applies tells you whether the rule is misconfigured or simply behaving as its design allows.

A narrower option: block IP addresses or ranges

If the unwanted traffic comes from a known IP address or a defined range, Hostinger CDN supports IP blocking in the same Traffic blocking section. It is more targeted than a country rule and suits a single abusive source. It does not replace a country-level policy if the traffic keeps arriving from new addresses.

Plan limits and running another CDN

  • Agency Hosting: country blocking is not available on Agency Hosting plans.
  • One CDN at a time: Hostinger’s CDN optimisation guidance says only one CDN should be enabled at a time. Hostinger’s documentation mentions third-party options such as Cloudflare. If you are considering one, confirm current compatibility and setup with Hostinger and the provider before switching, because the routing change affects where your country rules take effect.
