To roll back a Hostinger AI Builder site in manual mode, open the backup list, select the saved version, and click Restore backup. That puts the older version back into the editor only. Your public site keeps showing its current content until you update or publish the site, so the restore is not complete until that step is done.
How AI Builder backups are created
Backups in AI Builder manual mode are automatic. The first backup is made when the site is first published, and a new version is saved each time an already-published site is updated. Hostinger’s help article gives this example: three updates after the initial publication produce four versions in total. Edits you make in the editor are saved automatically, but an autosaved draft is not a backup and does not change the live site.
| Event | Versions in the backup list |
|---|---|
| Site published for the first time | 1 |
| First update after publishing | 2 |
| Second update | 3 |
| Third update | 4 |
Hostinger’s builder backup article states that versions are kept for 30 days. A site that has never been published has no backups to restore, so the list will be empty until the first publish.

Restore a backup step by step
Hostinger’s current instructions use the labels below. Button and menu names can change in later releases, so match the wording you see in your editor.

- Review the saved versions. Select a version to view it before you commit to restoring it.
- Click Restore backup on the version you want. The version is loaded into the editor.
- Check the restored content in the editor to confirm it is the version you intended.
- Click the update or publish control to make the restored version live. Hostinger’s update guidance uses the label Publish.
Why the old version may still appear online
If the public site still shows the content you replaced after you have published, check these points in order:
- The restore was not published. Restoring only changes the editor. Repeat the publish or update step.
- The browser or CDN is serving a cached copy. Hostinger notes that the cache may need to be cleared before the restored change appears online. Clear the cache, then reload the live page.
- The version is outside the 30-day window. Versions older than 30 days are no longer kept, so they will not appear in the list.
Avoid losing edits when you work on more than one device
Hostinger warns that editing the same site from several tabs or devices at once can stop changes from saving correctly. Work in one tab on one device at a time. The support page recommends Chrome as the most compatible browser for the editor. If you notice edits disappearing, close the other tabs, reload, and confirm your latest change before publishing.

AI Builder backups and hPanel backups are different tools
Hostinger also offers a general backup tool in hPanel that creates manual backups of hosting files and databases. It is a separate feature from the version history inside AI Builder, and Hostinger directs AI Builder sites to its builder-specific backup instructions. The table shows the differences that matter when you choose which one to use.
Quick wins for a faster PC:

For a rollback after an unwanted edit, use AI Builder’s version list. Use the hPanel tool when you need a copy of the hosting files and databases themselves. The sources reviewed for this article are Hostinger’s official help pages on builder backups, builder autosave and updates, and general hPanel backups, all accessed on 2026-10-07. None of these pages gives a publication date, so the labels and limits above reflect Hostinger’s current wording at that time.
