Hostinger AI Builder’s agentic mode lets you describe a browser-based web app in plain language. The builder then generates the code, file structure, and backend, shows the result in a live preview, and publishes it to a URL once you approve it. You do not need to write code yourself, but the output is not guaranteed to work the first time. The workflow that makes the difference is the one around the prompt: a clear brief, focused refinements, and testing before launch. The tool builds web apps only. It does not produce native iOS or Android apps.

What you can and cannot build

Hostinger’s agentic mode product overview lists the app types it supports and the ones it excludes. Check your idea against this table before you write a brief, because an unsupported category will not work no matter how well the prompt is written.

App type Status in agentic mode
Business sites Supported
Online shops Supported
Event sites Supported
Habit or fitness trackers Supported
Task or time-management apps Supported
Dashboards Supported
Interactive quizzes Supported
Simple browser-based 2D games Supported (the word “simple” is Hostinger’s qualifier)
3D games Not supported
Browser extensions Not supported
Trading or banking applications Not supported
Native iOS or Android apps Not supported

Hostinger’s own wording on the exclusions is: “Hostinger AI Builder agentic mode cannot create 3D games, browser extensions, trading or banking applications, as well as native mobile applications for the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).” A web app in this sense runs in a browser. It is not an app-store download, although people can open it on a phone’s browser, so test it at phone widths (covered below).

Before you start

  • A hosting plan. Creating a project starts with choosing a plan. Plan prices and inclusions change, so check the current details in your account before you commit.
  • A domain decision. You can choose a domain during setup, or start on a temporary domain and connect a domain later.
  • A credit budget. The editor shows AI credit information. Undo and restore do not give back credits you have already used, so build in small, testable steps. The credit allowance depends on your plan and time period, so check your account rather than relying on a fixed number.
  • A written goal. Decide who the app is for and the one task it must complete. You will reuse this in the brief.

Create the project

Hostinger’s how-to guide describes the setup path below. Dashboard labels can change, so match the names on your screen to these steps.

  1. Open your Hostinger dashboard and go to Websites.
  2. Create a website with AI Builder, then select agentic mode.
  3. Choose a domain during setup, or use a temporary domain and connect your own domain later.
  4. Enter your brief in the prompt area (see the next section) and submit it to start generation.

Write a brief the builder can work from

Hostinger’s prompting guide says specific instructions reduce ambiguity and recommends breaking complex ideas into smaller parts. A strong first brief covers five things:

  • The problem and users: what the app solves and who uses it.
  • Screens and functions: each page or view, and what it must do.
  • Data and forms: what information is entered, stored, or displayed.
  • User flow and navigation: how someone moves from screen to screen, and what the first action is.
  • Visual style and layout: the look, the density, and how the layout should adapt to narrow screens.

Hostinger states prompts can be written in more than 80 languages, according to its product overview. Here is an example first brief for a habit tracker, written to be pasted into the prompt area:

Build a habit tracker for people who want to log a daily habit in under ten seconds.
Screens:
1. Today: each habit with a Done button and a current streak count.
2. Add habit: a form with name, target days per week, and a colour choice.
3. Summary: completion percentage per habit for the last 7 days.
Data: store habits and daily check-ins. Do not add user accounts yet.
Navigation: a bottom tab bar with Today, Habits, and Summary.
Style: minimal, light theme, large tap targets. Layout must work at phone and desktop widths.

Build the core first. Once the Today screen and check-ins work, send follow-up prompts for the Summary screen, then for accounts or payments. Each prompt should change one thing you can verify.

Add reference images and files

Hostinger’s documentation describes several kinds of reference input, and the pages do not describe them identically. The product overview says you can supply images or screenshots. The prompting guide documents PDF and HTML uploads as inputs for generating a site, and the how-to guide mentions image and PDF attachments. Treat these as a general guide rather than a promise that every file type works in every part of the editor. Check the attachment options in your own editor before you plan around a particular format.

A screenshot of a layout you like works best when the prompt says what to copy from it, such as spacing, card style, or navigation position. Without that instruction, the builder may take elements you did not want.

Review, refine, and iterate in the editor

The editor pairs a prompt and chat area with a live preview. The product overview also describes a code view and a backend view, which you can open when you need to confirm how something is built. Use the preview to check behaviour against your brief, and make changes by naming the part you want changed.

Vague requests tend to produce broad changes. Specific requests keep the edit contained:

Make the app nicer. Increase the spacing between habit cards and give the Done button rounded corners. Leave the navigation unchanged.
Add a summary. Add a Summary screen, reachable from the bottom tab bar, that shows the completion percentage for each habit over the last 7 days.
Fix the form. On the Add habit form, make the name field required and show an inline error when it is empty. Keep the other fields unchanged.

After each prompt, check the preview, then open the code or backend view if the behaviour involves data, calculations, or logic. Keep a note of the last version that worked, so you know where to return if an edit goes wrong.

Test before you publish

Hostinger’s live preview and device toggle make a simple test routine possible before launch. The checklist below is a recommended routine built around those tools, not a report of tests we ran.

  • Open every screen in the navigation and confirm each one loads and returns you to where you expect.
  • Submit each form with valid and invalid input, including empty required fields.
  • Run the core task from start to finish, such as adding a habit, checking it in, and seeing it in the summary.
  • Switch the device toggle between desktop and mobile widths and check that text, buttons, and navigation remain usable.
  • After publishing, open the public URL in a private or incognito window and repeat the core task on the browsers and devices your audience uses.

Publish and verify the live site

Hostinger’s publishing guide describes the steps below.

  1. New projects are private drafts. Nothing is public until you publish.
  2. Select Publish in the editor.
  3. After later edits, publish again. Changes you make after publishing are not reflected on the public site until you do.
  4. Open the public URL in a private or incognito window to confirm what visitors see.
  5. If a domain you recently changed is unreachable, wait. Hostinger says DNS propagation after a record change can take up to 24 hours globally. That is a troubleshooting estimate, not a guaranteed time.

Under the hood: what the platform does for you, and what it does not

The product overview says the typical stack is Node.js on the backend and React with Vite on the front end. You can request other tools, but changing those defaults can introduce compatibility problems, so keep requests to the defaults unless you need something specific.

Hostinger’s technical specifications set the boundaries you must plan around.

No file-level access

The agentic environment is not file-based. Hostinger lists these as unavailable: FTP, File Manager, SFTP, SSH, direct individual-file management, cron jobs, and resource monitoring. Plan changes through the builder, not through server tools. SSL, CDN, and server cache are managed automatically.

Domains and DNS

Domain pointing supports nameservers or CNAME records. A records are not supported. If you connect a domain you already own, check which record type your registrar requires before you start.

Backend and integrations

Integrated backend features are available. The technical page names Supabase and Firebase as examples of external cloud databases, and says custom APIs can be integrated through prompts. Direct code imports from GitHub are not supported.

Exporting your code

Source code can be exported for hosting on a VPS or another provider. The export becomes a static website, and it cannot be imported back into AI Builder for further prompt editing. Treat the export as a one-way step.

Plan expiry and data retention

Hostinger’s documented terms say websites become inaccessible if a hosting plan expires, and that data is permanently deleted if hosting is not renewed and then canceled. Read Hostinger’s current policy pages before you decide on a plan, and keep an independent copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.

Payments and affiliate links

Hostinger says you can add subscriptions, one-time payments, and affiliate links to an application, though implementing them may require detailed prompting. This confirms the builder can attempt these features. It does not verify any particular payment provider or your legal and tax obligations, so confirm those separately before you accept payments.

Why the output can differ from your brief

Hostinger’s technical specifications state: “Because Hostinger AI Builder uses a probabilistic AI model, the output is generated based on probability rather than a fixed set of rules.” Practically, the same prompt can produce different results on different attempts, and an edit may change parts of the app you did not ask about. Check unrelated screens after every change, and do not assume calculations, permissions, or data handling are correct because the preview looks right.
