In Hostinger’s AI Builder editor, you add a Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, or Terms and Conditions page from a built-in template through the Pages and navigation panel. Then you link the page from your footer and, if you sell online, from checkout. The generated text is an editable starting point, and Hostinger states that you are responsible for reviewing it against what your business actually does. The steps below reflect Hostinger’s help-center guidance as of early October 2026. Editor labels and integrations change, so match the wording you see on screen to the labels used here.
Before you start
- Open your website in the AI Builder editor in manual mode. The steps in this guide apply to manual-mode websites.
- Decide which pages your business needs. Hostinger lists Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy, payment information, shipping information, and return or refund policy as common examples. Which ones apply depends on your business type and the laws in your country, so treat that list as a starting point, not a checklist.
- Have your business details ready. The template asks for information specific to your business, and the exact prompts appear inside the editor.
Create a legal page from a template
- In the editor’s side menu, open Pages and navigation.
- Click Add page.
- In the left-hand menu, select Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, or Terms and Conditions. Repeat this for each page you need.
- Enter the requested information and click Add page. The page is inserted into your site.
- Open the new page and read the generated text. Hostinger describes this content as editable, so change any wording that does not match your actual practices before you publish.
Make policies visible at checkout
If your website runs an online store, Hostinger’s guidance covers two separate placements. Use both if they apply to you.
Option 1: Add to checkout footer
When you create the page, enable Add to checkout footer. This places a link to the policy in the footer of the checkout page, where customers are paying.

Option 2: Checkout policies setting
Go to Store settings → Checkout → Checkout policies and link the policies there. This setting is independent of the checkout-footer option, so check it even if you already enabled the footer option.
#1 Best Overall
- Master your craft!
Link the policy page from the footer
Hostinger’s method for a general site footer does not use a menu item. It uses a text link.
- Add a footer section to your site using the editor’s footer controls.
- Add a text element to the footer and type the policy’s title, such as Privacy Policy.
- Select that text and add a hyperlink that points to the policy page you created.
- Repeat for each policy you want visible in the footer.
Decide whether the page appears in navigation
Page settings let you rename a page, edit its URL, hide it from the navigation menu, add a social image, and set password protection. Hiding a page only removes it from the menu. The page remains reachable by its URL and may still appear in search engines. Hostinger points to SEO settings for search visibility. Password protection is an available option, not something legal pages need. Protecting a policy with a password would prevent customers from reading it, so leave it off unless you have a specific reason.

Cookies and the consent banner
Sites without connected tracking
Hostinger says manual-mode sites do not use cookies by default. Integrations you connect can set cookies, though. Hostinger gives these examples: Google Analytics (_ga), Hotjar (_hjSessionUser_{site_id}), and Facebook Pixel (_fbp). Hostinger suggests disclosing cookie use in a cookie banner, your Privacy Policy page, or both. Which cookies your site sets depends on the integrations you add, so review that list whenever you connect a new tool.
Banner options and where to enable it
The cookie banner can be turned on in General settings. Visitors can accept all cookies, decline all, or choose tracking categories such as Analytics and Marketing. Hostinger says integrations load according to the visitor’s choice. The banner’s appearance and translations can be customized. If your site uses Google AdMob or AdSense, Hostinger says you need a certified, Google-compliant third-party cookie-consent solution.
Who is responsible for compliance
Hostinger’s legal-page article states: “These are the templates. It is your responsibility to review, adapt, or supplement the templates to ensure they comply with the actual transactions occurring on your website. We kindly recommend seeking legal advice if needed. Hostinger is not responsible for your compliance with laws and is not liable for any damages or losses resulting from the use of the templates.”
Hostinger’s AI Builder Special Terms, last revised 2026-08-18, add: “You must ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations when using the Service.” The same terms recommend independent review before you use, distribute, or commercialize AI-generated content.
The platform’s instructions do not determine what the law requires in your jurisdiction, and they do not know your data practices or sales terms. For compliance decisions, consult a qualified legal professional or your national regulator. Hostinger’s article also names third-party template services, TermsFeed, TermsHub, and iubenda, that some site owners use as alternatives. Hostinger does not describe any of them as endorsed.

Publish and check the result
Hostinger says changes do not appear online until you publish or update the website, so complete this step after every edit.
Quick Recap
- Publish or update the website.
- Open the live site in a private or incognito browser window to avoid seeing a cached or logged-in view.
- Click each footer policy link and confirm it opens the correct page.
- If you use a store, place a test order up to the payment step and confirm the policy links appear at checkout.
Troubleshooting
- The footer link is missing. Confirm that you added a footer section, that the text element exists, and that the text is hyperlinked to the policy page. Then publish again.
- The policy page is not in the menu. If you hid it from navigation, it will stay out of the menu. Unhide it in the page settings if you want it listed.
- The live page shows old text. Your edits have not been published. Publish or update the website again.
- No cookie banner appears. Check that the banner is turned on in General settings.
