The HONOR X5d s pairs entry-level hardware with an unusual feature for its price class: a small touchscreen on the back. HONOR says it can help you frame selfies with the 50MP rear camera and display call alerts and media controls. A South African launch report dated 6 October 2026 put the recommended price at R2,499, with sales scheduled to start on 7 October; that is a dated launch claim, not confirmation of current stock.
What the rear screen does
The rear panel is a functional touch display, rather than a decorative camera island. HONOR describes using it to frame and capture selfies with the main camera, as well as to view call alerts and control media playback. The manufacturer says, “Simply tap the back screen to auto-focus and capture sharp, clear shots.” That describes the feature, not an independent assessment of its speed or photo quality.
HONOR lists the rear screen at 2.01 inches with a resolution of 240×296 pixels. Its product information does not establish which third-party apps the controls support.

Kommersant reported on 6 October 2026 that the X5d s was scheduled to go on sale in South Africa on 7 October at a recommended price of R2,499. Check South African retailers for current stock and pricing; the reported recommendation does not establish a live offer, and no confirmed price or availability elsewhere is established by these launch sources.
