The HomerunPET CS106 is a rotating, sifting litter box with automatic litter top-up, optional app control and a large manufacturer-rated dome. Its 12 L waste bin and 4.5 L refill reservoir can reduce daily scooping and topping up, but it still needs emptying and periodic deep cleaning. Before buying, check the 25 lb maximum cat weight, the 18 × 18 in interior globe reported by Cats.com, your available floor space and the CS106’s 2.4 GHz-only app connection.
How the HomerunPET CS106 works
After a cat leaves, the dome rotates. A sifter separates clumps from usable litter, returning clean litter to the bed and routing waste into a drawer. The device also draws litter from its reservoir to top up the bed as needed. HomerunPET lists a 106 L dome, an 8 L litter bed, a 4.5 L refill reservoir and a 12 L waste bin; these are manufacturer specifications, not independently measured capacity tests. HomerunPET’s product page describes the current model.
Automation shifts chores rather than eliminating them: you still need to remove waste, replenish the reservoir, and clean the dome and other surfaces. Cats.com notes that periodic disassembly is required for deep cleaning.

Will a large cat fit, and can multiple cats use it?
HomerunPET specifies a maximum cat weight of 25 lb (11.3 kg) and describes the dome as 106 L. Cats.com reports an 18 × 18 in interior globe and an exterior footprint of 27.44 × 23.62 × 28.07 in; the unit weighs 44 lb. These figures make the CS106 worth considering for a larger cat, but the weight limit and dome volume do not guarantee that a particular cat will feel comfortable in an enclosed box. Compare your cat’s posture and turning space with the interior dimensions, and allow for the entry and approach.

For a Maine Coon, the practical answer is not simply “yes” based on breed or weight: measure the cat and assess whether it can enter, turn and dig comfortably in the available globe. For a multi-cat home, the 12 L bin and automatic top-up may reduce routine chores, but the cited hands-on review did not test multi-cat use. Do not treat the unit’s capacity as evidence of a particular emptying interval or as proof that one box is suitable for every household.
What litter can the CS106 use?
HomerunPET lists clumping clay, tofu, cassava, cassava-tofu and tofu-bentonite blends as supported litter types. Cats.com reports that the unit includes a large-pore filter plus an extra small-pore filter for finer litter. Check the current model instructions for the chosen litter and matching filter before filling the box; the presence of multiple supported categories does not mean every texture or brand will sift equally well.

The automatic reservoir reduces manual topping-up, not litter use or the need to keep a supply on hand. Litter-bed cleaning also remains part of maintenance.

No. HomerunPET says the CS106 can be operated at its touch panel without Wi-Fi or the app. App features do require a network connection: the manufacturer’s FAQ specifies 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, and Cats.com notes that 5 GHz is not supported. If your router broadcasts both bands under one network name, check the app setup guidance or router settings if pairing fails.

Owner reviews on the manufacturer’s product page include individual reports of location-permission friction, Wi-Fi setup problems and app issues; Google Play reviews also include user-reported connection problems. These are anecdotes, not evidence of how often failures occur. For app setup, confirm your phone’s permissions and that a 2.4 GHz network is available. The HomerunPET app’s Google Play listing is another place to check current app information and user reports.
What work does “self-cleaning” remove—and what remains?
- Reduced: routine scooping of clumps, because the rotating sifter directs them to the waste drawer.
- Reduced: frequent manual top-ups, because the 4.5 L reservoir refills the bed as needed.
- Still required: emptying the waste drawer, refilling the reservoir, checking the litter bed and cleaning the unit.
- Periodic task: deep-cleaning the dome, including disassembly as needed. HomerunPET says the dome can be disassembled and washed; when wiping the exterior, avoid getting water into the circuit board.
The maker lists a 12 L waste-bin capacity, but the reviewed sources do not establish a dependable number of days between emptying. Actual timing depends on household use and how much waste enters the bin, so check it regularly rather than relying on a fixed interval.

Safety, acclimation and practical drawbacks
HomerunPET describes an anti-pinch bumper, radar sensor and four weight sensors. The manufacturer says not to use the CS106 for kittens under 1.5 kg or six months old, or for pregnant or nursing cats. These are maker-stated design features and eligibility guidance, not a guarantee that injury is impossible. Follow the current manual and supervise a cat’s introduction to the device.

Its reviewer also notes app monitoring, multiple litter options, auto-refill and a large waste capacity as benefits. HomerunPET states a 38.8 dB noise rating; this is a manufacturer figure, not an independent calibrated measurement. Zoolory’s one-unit review also did not take a calibrated sound reading, test multi-cat use or deliberately provoke the safety sensors. Its reviewer disclosed receiving a free product from HomerunPET and using affiliate links.

What to verify before buying
- Measure the location. Allow for the reported 27.44 × 23.62 × 28.07 in footprint, room to enter and exit, and access to remove the waste drawer. The unit weighs 44 lb, so choose a spot you can keep accessible.
- Check your cat’s fit and eligibility. Compare its size with the reported 18 × 18 in interior globe and the manufacturer’s 25 lb maximum. Apply HomerunPET’s age, weight and pregnancy or nursing restrictions.
- Match litter and filter. Confirm the chosen litter category and the appropriate supplied filter against current CS106 guidance.
- Decide whether you need the app. Touch-panel operation does not require Wi-Fi. App use needs 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, not 5 GHz.
- Check ongoing supplies and upkeep. Establish where waste bags and litter will be stored, and whether the cleaning and disassembly routine is practical. HomerunPET lists CS106 waste bags, a Fresh Gel Deodorizer for CS106 and an optional CS106 litter step; verify compatibility and current availability rather than assuming a particular accessory is required.
- Confirm current purchase terms. Price, stock, warranty, shipping, trial or return terms and regional availability can change. Review the current official terms and the seller’s listing before ordering.
Who should consider the CS106?
The CS106 is a plausible option for owners who want a rotating sifting system, automatic top-up and app monitoring, and who can accommodate a large unit. The large dome specification may appeal to owners of bigger cats, but the interior dimensions and the cat’s willingness to use an enclosed box matter more than the headline capacity alone. Buyers who prioritize a smaller footprint, an integrated step or mat, or a different litter and app setup should compare alternatives on those exact points rather than treating any one capacity figure as decisive.
HomerunPET’s product page displayed a $699 price and advertised a 90-day home trial, 12-month warranty, shipping terms and HSA/FSA reimbursement via Flex when accessed in 2026. These are time-sensitive offers and terms, not a guarantee of current availability or eligibility; verify them directly before purchase. The product page also showed 4.9 out of 5 from 203 reviews at that time, a changing manufacturer-hosted rating rather than a representative consumer survey.
