In the Van is an announced, unreleased indie survival simulation from Cosmic Tofu built around a simple hook: your van is both your transport and your home. Its advertised activities span scavenging, crafting, cooking, farming, exploration, and investigation in a zombie-overrun world. Steam lists no release date; as of October 3, 2026, the game is not yet available.
What is In the Van?
In the Van on Steam is described as “A cozy post-apocalyptic survival game where your van is your home and your key to survival.” Cosmic Tofu is listed as both developer and publisher, and Steam categorizes the project as Indie and Simulation.
The van is more than a way to travel: it is presented as the player’s sole home and a mobile base that can be improved with storage and other upgrades. Its short description sums up the premise as: “Scavenge, craft, and uncover the stories the dead left behind to find a way out.”
Steam also displays tags such as Survival, Sandbox, Base Building, Zombies, Open World, Singleplayer, Co-op, and Story Rich. These are storefront descriptors, not confirmation that every tagged feature or mode will ship in a particular form. A GamesRadar+ article published August 20, 2026, likewise characterized the concept as cozy survival in a zombie apocalypse and described the van as a customizable mobile cabin; the Steam listing remains the primary source for the currently advertised features.
Is In the Van released, and is there a demo?
As of October 3, 2026, Steam gives the release date as “To be announced” and marks In the Van as not yet available. The listing invites interested players to wishlist it, but gives no launch date, price, or demo date. Questions about a demo appear in the Steam Community hub; those questions do not establish that a demo is available or planned.
Does In the Van have multiplayer or controller support?
The Steam feature row lists both Single-player and Multi-player. However, a Community discussion asks whether multiplayer is planned, and the available listing does not clarify what multiplayer entails or confirm its final scope. Treat the feature label as provisional rather than a detailed promise about co-op play.

Steam’s displayed language table lists interface and subtitle support for English, French, German, Spanish (Spain), Japanese, Korean, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish (Latin America), Turkish, Brazilian Portuguese, Polish, Traditional Chinese, and Ukrainian. The table lists no full-audio language support. Localization plans can change before release.

Is In the Van graphic?
The developer-provided Steam content notice says the game depicts violence, blood, and zombie enemies in pixel art, but describes the presentation as not highly graphic or gory. It also says there is no sexual content. This is the developer’s description, not a formal age rating.
