To change picture size on many Hisense Google TVs, press Settings on the remote and open Display & Sound > Screen > Picture Size. On some older Hisense software, the control is under Picture > Picture Size. Try Auto first, then test other available modes if the image is still cropped or stretched. Menu labels and choices vary by model, software, region, and input source.
Change the picture size on your Hisense TV
- Play the channel, app, or connected device whose image needs adjustment. The TV’s available picture-size choices can depend on the active input.
- Press the Settings button on the Hisense remote.
- Open Display & Sound > Screen > Picture Size on TVs with the newer menu. If you do not see that path, check Picture > Picture Size.
- Select Auto if it is available. If the image is not framed correctly, try the other offered modes one at a time and keep the one that shows the full image without unwanted stretching.
Hisense describes Picture Size as an aspect-ratio adjustment that can stretch or zoom the image. For details tied to the TV’s software and model, see the Hisense manual’s Picture Size and Screen settings.
Choose a mode that fixes the specific problem
If the picture is zoomed in or the edges are missing
Try Auto or another mode that preserves the source’s intended proportions. If you choose Zoom, the picture may fill more of the screen but crop its edges. You can also check for Overscan in Screen settings, if your model offers it. Hisense describes Overscan as slightly cropping image edges, so turning it off or adjusting it may help when the source is being cropped. See the Hisense manual’s Picture Size and Overscan information.

Choose Auto or a mode that matches the program’s original proportions. A stretch-oriented mode can fill the panel but distort the image. Hisense warns that using a selected format with a different aspect ratio from the TV transmission or video program “can cause a difference in vision.” The manual lists examples of modes, but the labels available on your TV may differ: some versions include Auto, 4:3, Zoom, 16:9, 21:9, or 32:9; others show choices such as Normal, Wide, Direct, Dot-By-Dot, Panoramic, or Cinema. These are examples, not a promise that every model has them. See the Hisense manual’s aspect-ratio guidance.

If black bars remain
Black bars can reflect the shape of the program or video rather than an incorrect TV setting. Try Auto first, then compare the available modes. A zoom or stretch mode may reduce the bars, but can crop edges or distort the image; use it only if that trade-off is acceptable.

- Confirm that the affected channel, app, or connected device is playing when you open Picture Size; available options may depend on the active source.
- Check the manual for your exact model. Hisense states that this function may vary depending on the software version, and choices can differ by model, country or region, and content or input.
- If only one app or connected device looks wrong, check its own output settings as well. The mismatch may not originate in the TV, and the available TV controls do not establish the cause by themselves.
Hisense’s manual notes that “This function may vary depending on the version of the software.” The manual’s Picture Size and Screen settings can help identify the path for the software version it documents.
