The Hisense PX3-PRO is a 4K ultra-short-throw laser projector specified for images from 80 to 150 inches, making it a credible candidate for a 150-inch home cinema setup. But 150 inches is its stated maximum, not a guarantee it will suit every room: screen dimensions, placement, image height, and furniture all need checking before you buy.

What does “150-inch UST projector” mean in practice?

UST means ultra-short throw: the projector sits close to the screen or wall and projects upward onto it, rather than being mounted far back across the room. The PX3-PRO’s 150-inch figure refers to the image’s diagonal, and it is the upper end of Hisense’s stated 80–150-inch range. Hisense also specifies 3,000 ANSI lumens and 3,000:1 native contrast; those are manufacturer claims, not independent test results. Hisense’s launch announcement dates to April 23, 2024, and was updated January 15, 2025.

For a 16:9 image at 150 inches diagonal, the picture is roughly 131 inches wide and 74 inches high, before allowing for a screen frame or any border. That scale can make wall width, ceiling height, and furniture more decisive than the projector’s maximum-size specification.

How close to the wall does the PX3-PRO sit?

A 2024 Hisense Spain technical sheet lists 46.0 cm for a 150-inch image in its projection-size table. Treat that as a placement reference to verify, not as a universal measurement from the projector’s back edge to the wall: the extracted table does not by itself establish the measurement reference, and regional model details may differ. Consult the exact regional model’s diagram or manual before fixing a shelf or positioning the screen.

Measure the full installation, not just the listed throw distance. Account for the projector chassis, the screen’s position, the intended bottom edge of the image, the shelf depth, and clearance for a soundbar. If the screen is already chosen, check its dimensions and mounting position against the projected image area.

Will a 150-inch screen fit your room?

Before choosing a projector, measure the usable wall area and decide where the image should begin and end. For a 150-inch 16:9 picture, allow about 131 inches of width and 74 inches of height for the image itself; the screen may need additional space for its frame or border. Then check the projector’s exact placement diagram against the wall, shelf, and soundbar arrangement. The published maximum diagonal cannot determine whether a particular room will work.

What does the PX3-PRO offer beyond image size?

Hisense lists Dolby Vision, Google TV, a 4K AI upscaler, a 110% BT.2020 color gamut, and a laser light source rated for over 25,000 hours on the PX3-PRO product page. The company also specifies 50-watt Harman Kardon front-firing speakers, Dolby Atmos, HDMI 2.1 ports with eARC, and a high-refresh-rate gaming mode. These are manufacturer specifications and feature claims; they do not establish how the projector performs against competitors in independent testing.

Specifications above come from the manufacturers’ pages: Hisense, Epson, and Samsung Canada. They are not a comparative lab test, so they do not establish which projector is sharpest or best in a given room.

When the Epson LS800 makes sense

The LS800 is a relevant alternative if you want a manufacturer-specified 150-inch maximum and value its stated brightness figures. Epson also publishes placement examples for 100- and 120-inch images, but not a 150-inch distance on the cited page; do not extrapolate a larger image’s placement from those examples. Epson lists 4K PRO-UHD, 3-chip 3LCD, and a 16.7 ms input-lag figure on its product page.

Where the Samsung LSP9T fits

Samsung describes the LSP9T as a triple-laser 4K UST projector with up to a 130-inch image, so it does not match a 150-inch target as closely. Samsung recommends a screen designed for UST projection for an optimized experience. That advice is relevant to any UST setup: check screen compatibility rather than assuming an ordinary screen or bare wall will deliver the result you want.

What should you choose for a 150-inch setup?

Start with confirmed room fit, not the biggest diagonal on a spec sheet. The PX3-PRO is a reasonable candidate if its verified placement diagram and a compatible screen work in your room. Compare it with the LS800 if Epson’s published brightness specifications are important to your decision, while accounting for the fact that its cited placement examples stop at 120 inches. The Samsung LSP9T is a less direct match for a 150-inch goal because Samsung specifies a 130-inch maximum.

There is no basis in the cited manufacturer specifications for declaring one of these models definitively best. Choose by verified image size and throw distance, brightness, screen fit, gaming and connectivity features, and current regional price and availability.
