The Hisense HCF8I1215HB is a single cabinet that washes up to 12kg and dries up to 8kg with a heat pump. It suits a household that washes large loads but is comfortable drying them in smaller batches, and that needs one appliance instead of a separate washer and dryer. It is not a match for anyone who expects a full 12kg wash to dry in one run. Independent test results exist for this model (CHOICE tested it in 2026), but CHOICE’s expert rating and detailed performance scores are members-only, so this review does not give a verdict on how well it washes or dries.
This review uses Australian specifications and pricing from Hisense Australia, cross-checked against Hisense New Zealand’s listing and CHOICE’s model page.
Which model and market this covers
Hisense Australia lists the HCF8I1215HB as a 2025 Series 8i heat pump combo washer dryer. Hisense warns that specifications vary by country even when the model number is the same. Hisense New Zealand puts it this way: “Specifications vary from country to country (even though products may have the same model number).” If you are buying outside Australia, use your local Hisense listing rather than the figures below.

Capacity: what 12kg and 8kg mean in practice
The two figures apply to separate cycles. The 12kg figure is the washing capacity and the 8kg figure is the drying capacity. A full 12kg wash cannot be dried in one run on this machine. Plan your loads around the drying limit:

- A 12kg wash split into two dry runs of about 6kg each stays within the 8kg rating.
- A 7kg wash can be dried in a single run.
- Any dry load above 8kg exceeds the rated drying capacity and should be divided.
The listings reviewed do not give a combined wash-and-dry time for a full load, so you will need to measure your own cycle length once you own the machine.
Who it suits and who should look elsewhere
It suits:
- Households or couples that want one footprint for washing and drying, and whose laundry has room for one 60cm-wide unit.
- Households that mostly run mid-sized loads, or that are comfortable splitting large washes into two drying runs.
- Buyers who want Wi-Fi control and a 25-program range in a single appliance.
It may not suit:
- Households that regularly need to dry full 12kg loads in one cycle.
- Buyers who need independent washing and drying results before purchase, since those are members-only on CHOICE’s page.
- Buyers in New Zealand or elsewhere who would rely on the Australian price or warranty.
Manufacturer claims, one at a time
Hisense lists the features below. They are manufacturer claims, not results from an independent test, and each is described as Hisense describes it.
Heat-pump drying
Hisense describes a heat-pump drying system. The only numbers that speak to its energy use are the dryer label figure of 135 kWh/year (CHOICE model page) and the 8-star dryer energy rating (Hisense Australia and New Zealand). Neither figure is a drying time or a dryness result.

Auto dosing
Hisense says the auto-dose reservoir can cover up to 26 washes under its stated basis of a 5kg load at medium soil. Real use depends on load size, soil level and the settings you choose, so treat 26 as the figure for those stated conditions rather than a guarantee for your laundry.
Quick wash-and-dry mode
Hisense advertises a quick wash-and-dry mode that completes a 1kg load in 49 minutes. That is a manufacturer figure for a 1kg load, not an observed result, and it does not describe a full-capacity cycle.
Allergy Steam bacteria claim
Hisense Australia’s product page says Allergy Steam mode achieves a 99.9% bacteria reduction. It attributes this to SGS testing against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, and notes that individual results vary. The claim covers those two organisms in that mode. It is not a general disinfection promise for all bacteria, for all laundry, or for ordinary cycles.

Wi-Fi, app, display and energy monitoring

Energy and water: the label figures
The published figures come from two sources. Hisense gives star ratings; CHOICE publishes the label values it lists for the model:
- Washer energy label: 300 kWh/year (CHOICE model page)
- Dryer energy label: 135 kWh/year (CHOICE model page)
- Wash water label: 86L (CHOICE model page)
- Dryer water label: 1L (CHOICE model page)
- Washing energy and water: 5-star; drying energy: 8-star (Hisense Australia and New Zealand)
The washer and dryer values are reported separately. Neither the manufacturer nor CHOICE’s visible page gives a combined energy or water figure for a complete wash-and-dry cycle. Adding the two energy labels gives a rough annual total, but the labels may not be based on identical load assumptions, so treat that sum as an estimate rather than a measured figure for your household.

What independent testing shows, and what it does not
CHOICE’s model page describes the appliance as a heat pump dryer and says it was tested in 2026. The publicly visible parts of the page show the specifications and energy-label values listed above, together with a 3.5kg tested capacity. The CHOICE expert rating, wash and dry performance scores, dirt removal, rinse, gentleness, cycle duration and noise results are members-only. Being tested by CHOICE does not indicate a result, so this review makes no claim about how well the machine washed or dried in those tests. The visible page does not explain how the 3.5kg tested capacity was derived, and it is a different figure from the 8kg drying rating.

Hisense publishes an official operation manual for the HCF8I1215HB, and its regional product page links both the manual and a quick setup guide. The manual covers installation and connection, before-first-use steps, washing functions, maintenance and cleaning, troubleshooting and fault codes. Read the installation and troubleshooting sections before you contact support, since the manual is the authoritative procedure for each.
Size and installation checks
Hisense Australia lists the cabinet at 845mm high, 595mm wide and 600mm deep. CHOICE lists 85 × 60 × 63 cm, so its depth is 3cm greater than Hisense’s 600mm. CHOICE’s visible page does not explain its measurement basis, so measure the space yourself and check the depth against the Hisense spec sheet for your market.
- Measure the recess width, height and depth where the machine will sit, not only the floor area.
- Check the height against any benchtop or cabinet above the machine.
- Read the installation and connection section of the Hisense operation manual for clearances, water connections and power requirements before you buy.
How to compare it with other combo washer dryers
Use the same criteria for every alternative, and do not treat star ratings or quick-cycle times as guarantees of results on every load.
