The Hisense C2 Ultra is a strong fit for buyers who want a large, colorful image, built-in streaming and high-refresh gaming without a complicated installation. Its rotating gimbal, optical zoom and automatic setup features make positioning easier, but they do not replace lens shift: you still need to place the projector carefully. The other key trade-offs are its mid-size, non-battery design, a DLP rainbow effect some viewers may notice, and a motion-processing compromise that RTINGS says requires 1080p downscaling for de-juddering.
What is the Hisense C2 Ultra?
Announced in October 2024, the C2 Ultra is a triple-laser DLP projector that produces a 4K-class image through pixel shifting rather than a native 4K device-mirror array. Hisense markets it as a 4K Laser Smart Mini Projector and says it is Designed for Xbox. The pixel-shifting distinction matters: it is intended to show 4K content, but its imaging device does not contain a full native 4K array. Hisense’s announcement and What Hi-Fi?’s review describe the product and its imaging approach.
| Specification or feature | What is established |
|---|---|
| Resolution and imaging | Hisense lists 4K 3840×2160 output; What Hi-Fi? identifies the triple-laser DLP system as pixel-shifted 4K-class. Hisense; What Hi-Fi? |
| Brightness and color | Hisense advertises 3,000 ANSI lumens and 110% BT.2020. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements. Hisense |
| Image size | Hisense specifies 65–300 inches. The 300-inch maximum is not a guarantee of ideal brightness or image quality at that size. Hisense |
| Light-source life | Hisense’s product search result lists 25,000+ hours; market and version context should be checked. Hisense specifications |
| Connections | Hisense lists HDMI 2.1, HDMI 2.1 with eARC and two USB 3.0 ports. Hisense specifications |
| Weight | 6.3 kg, as listed by What Hi-Fi?. What Hi-Fi? |
| HDR formats | What Hi-Fi? lists HDR10, HDR10+, HLG and Dolby Vision support. What Hi-Fi? |
Hisense also promotes IMAX Enhanced and a 2.1-channel JBL audio system with DTS Virtual:X and an integrated 1.2-litre subwoofer. Those are useful built-in features, but the speakers should be treated as a convenient all-in-one option rather than a substitute for a dedicated surround system. Hisense’s launch announcement describes these advertised features.

Independent reviews point to the C2 Ultra’s color and brightness as its main picture strengths. RTINGS describes exceptional color volume and reliable contrast, while What Hi-Fi? praises the punch and color solidity of HDR images. RTINGS also found the out-of-box image too cold before calibration, so viewers seeking accurate color may want to adjust picture settings rather than assume the default is neutral. Room light and screen size
RTINGS found the projector bright enough for a large living-room image and usable with a few lights on; What Hi-Fi? likewise saw punchy HDR in fairly bright living-room conditions. A dimmer room remains the better choice for a cinematic look: ambient light still reduces perceived contrast, and Hisense’s 3,000 ANSI-lumen specification does not make room lighting irrelevant. RTINGS; What Hi-Fi?
Although Hisense advertises projection up to 300 inches, What Hi-Fi? judges 100–150 inches a more satisfying all-round range because brightness falls as the image grows. Treat that as the reviewer’s practical assessment, not a manufacturer limit or a guarantee for every room. What Hi-Fi?
Motion and rainbow effect
Some viewers sensitive to the rainbow effect associated with DLP projection may notice it. RTINGS also reports that using de-juddering requires downscaling to 1080p, a meaningful compromise for viewers who prioritize smooth motion and 4K detail at the same time. RTINGS

Is setup and placement easy?
The C2 Ultra’s rotating two-axis gimbal is designed to make aiming easier, and the projector adds optical zoom and automated adjustments. RTINGS lists autofocus, auto keystone and auto object avoidance. What Hi-Fi? describes Hisense’s Auto Magic AI Adjusting 2.0 functions as including automatic keystone, focus, obstacle avoidance, wall-color adaptation and eye protection, and lists a 0.9–1.5:1 optical zoom. These features can reduce setup work, but they do not make placement arbitrary. RTINGS; What Hi-Fi?
The gimbal does not provide lens shift
RTINGS says the projector has no lens shift. If the image needs to move horizontally, you must move the projector itself; the gimbal and zoom help with aiming and sizing, but cannot correct every placement problem optically. Plan the projector’s location in relation to the screen before mounting it or treating a particular shelf position as fixed. RTINGS
What Hi-Fi? says optional thin-pole floor stands and ceiling-mount brackets are possible, but the reviewed information does not identify a specific compatible model. Confirm compatibility with Hisense or the accessory maker before buying a mount. What Hi-Fi?

How capable is it for gaming?
The C2 Ultra is a compelling gaming projector if high refresh rates matter. Hisense advertises refresh rates up to 240 frames per second and Auto Low Latency Mode; RTINGS describes responsiveness across multiple resolution and refresh-rate combinations, with 1080p at 240Hz especially useful for fast play. This does not mean the projector supports 4K at 240Hz. RTINGS says 60Hz and 120Hz modes are not as fast as its 240Hz mode for competitive gaming. Hisense; RTINGS; TechRadar
What Hi-Fi? lists input lag of 34.4 ms at 60Hz and 17.6 ms with DLP Turbo Mode. Those figures are tied to the stated modes; they should not be generalized to every resolution, refresh rate or processing setting. What Hi-Fi?
What are the smart features and built-in sound like?
The projector runs Hisense VIDAA, and RTINGS notes official Netflix integration. App availability varies by country and software version. For example, What Hi-Fi? lists Netflix, BBC iPlayer, ITVX, All 4, My 5, Now TV, Disney+, Prime Video, YouTube, Apple TV, Paramount+ and HBO Max on the UK model, and reports that a firmware update added Freely support in the UK. Do not assume that a list for the UK applies to another market. RTINGS; What Hi-Fi?

- 【65"-300" Super Wide Projection Size, IMAX Enhanced & Dolby Vision Certified】Stretch the picture from 65" all the way up to a massive 300" with support for IMAX Enhanced and Dolby Vision certification.Movie night on the patio, a big game with the whole block, or a backyard party under the stars, the C3 scales up to match the occasion, without ever losing the immersive, larger-than-life feel.
- 【2500 ANSI Lumens, RGB Pure Triple Color Laser】 The C3 delivers 2500 ANSI Lumens with a Super Wide Color Volume of 110% BT.2020 and super high color accuracy (ΔE≤0.9), every frame is rendered with cinematic depth, purity, and brilliance.
- 【4K UHD Resolution】 Pixel-by-pixel reconstruction and intelligent frame interpolation elevate HD to breathtaking 4K detail, revealing lifelike depth and motion clarity in every scene.
- 【360° Horizontal and 135° Vertical Gimbal Design】 With 360° horizontal and 135° vertical gimbal movement hardware, the C3 isn't locked to a shelf or a straight wall. Angle it up, down, or sideways. Point it at a ceiling, a fence, or a ramp. It'll meet the space exactly where you are. No awkward mounting, no compromise on where movie night happens.
- 【Auto Magic AI Adjusting 2.0】 Set it down anywhere and let the C3 do the rest. Auto keystone correction detects the angle you've placed it at and straightens the image in real time, so it looks perfectly rectangular no matter where or how you set it up. At the same time, the C3 sharpens the picture on its own the moment you turn it on, and keeps refocusing if you move it, so the image stays crisp without you touching a focus ring.
The integrated JBL system, with a 1.2-litre subwoofer according to Hisense, can make casual viewing simpler when you do not want separate audio equipment. Its 2.1-channel configuration and DTS Virtual:X are not the same as a dedicated multichannel surround setup. Hisense
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can you move it around easily?
It is better described as repositionable or semi-portable than grab-and-go. RTINGS notes that it has no carrying handle, no included case and no battery. At 6.3 kg according to What Hi-Fi?, it is also a substantial unit to move frequently. If you plan to relocate it between rooms or take it outdoors, account for carrying protection and access to a power outlet. RTINGS; What Hi-Fi?
How much does the Hisense C2 Ultra cost?
Pricing depends on market and date, and launch prices are not a reliable guide to today’s offers. Hisense announced a US launch price of $2,999.99 in October 2024. TechRadar reported launch pricing of $2,999 in the US, £2,499 in the UK and AU$4,499 in Australia in its 2025 coverage; What Hi-Fi? later displayed pricing around £1,799 / $2,300 / AU$3,495. Check current local stock and price, and confirm the exact model and regional version before purchasing. Hisense; TechRadar; What Hi-Fi?
Hisense C2 Ultra vs. alternatives: what should you compare?
There is no universal winner among projectors at similar prices. TechRadar compares the C2 Ultra with the BenQ GP520 and Anker Nebula Cosmos Laser 4K; What Hi-Fi? names the BenQ W2720i, BenQ TK705i and Epson EF-72 as alternatives. Compare them against how and where you will actually use the projector rather than choosing on a single headline specification. TechRadar; What Hi-Fi?
- Room light and contrast: Look at brightness in your likely viewing environment and dark-scene performance, especially if you watch with lights on or prefer a dark cinema room.
- Placement: Check throw distance, image-size range, zoom, gimbal movement and whether lens shift is important for your room.
- Gaming: Compare refresh rate and resolution together, then check input lag for the mode you intend to use.
- Picture preferences: Consider HDR format support, motion processing and whether DLP rainbow effects are a concern for anyone watching.
- Everyday use: Check native streaming apps for your country, built-in audio, portability and whether a case or battery is included.
- Total cost: Compare current local prices and any mounting or screen accessories you actually need; verify compatibility before selecting a stand or bracket.
Who should buy the Hisense C2 Ultra?
The C2 Ultra makes the most sense for someone who wants a bright, colorful large-screen projector that can double as a serious gaming display, values built-in VIDAA streaming and audio, and can accommodate a careful physical setup. It is less suitable if you need effortless travel portability, lens shift for a constrained installation, native 4K pixel-level imaging, or de-juddering without the reported 1080p downscaling. A DLP-sensitive viewer should also see the image in person if possible before committing.
