The Australian-market Hisense 75U7QAU is a feature-rich 75-inch 4K Mini-LED TV that looks most compelling for sports and gaming, especially if you watch from a central seat. Its four HDMI 2.1 ports and VRR suit demanding setups, but the advertised 165Hz capability is not independently settled for this size. Reviewer-reported blooming in dark scenes, weaker off-axis viewing and limited built-in bass are the main trade-offs.
What the 75U7QAU is—and which model this review covers
This review covers the Australian 2025 75-inch model, Hisense 75U7QAU. It is a 4K television with Mini-LED backlighting and VIDAA U9. U7 models sold in other regions, including models with similar names such as U7QG or U7Q Pro, can have different specifications and software; their reviews should not be treated as reviews of this exact set.
Hisense lists a resolution of 3840 × 2160, direct LED backlighting, Mini-LED technology, VRR and four HDMI 2.1 inputs. The company also lists Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+ Adaptive, HDR10 and HLG support. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements of brightness, contrast or HDR performance. Hisense Australia’s 75U7QAU product page and the 75U7QAU consumer specification sheet provide the listed details.

Sports and bright-room viewing
Sports are the clearest use case in the available hands-on review. Chris Button of GadgetGuy reviewed a 65-inch U7QAU unit and said the 2025 range was a strong fit for his sports viewing. That is an attributed reviewer assessment, not a controlled test of the 75-inch model. A large 75-inch screen can make matches easier to follow from a suitable distance, but the main concern is seating position: Button found the optimal viewing angle narrow, with blooming more noticeable away from the centre.

Gaming and the 165Hz question
The 75U7QAU has four HDMI 2.1 inputs and VRR listed by Hisense, useful features for connecting multiple modern consoles or a gaming PC. Hisense advertises a 165Hz refresh rate and specifies that it requires a compatible PC connection. However, the claim is not independently settled for the 75-inch set. GadgetGuy lists 165Hz, while Australian reviewer I’mTech reports that its equipment indicated native 120/144Hz behaviour and that the 55-, 65-, 75- and 85-inch sets did not appear to support 166Hz gaming. The evidence therefore supports treating 165Hz as a manufacturer-listed capability, not a verified result for this size. If a particular refresh rate is essential to your setup, confirm the exact mode and compatibility before buying.
GadgetGuy’s 2025-10-22 review scored the U7QAU range 8.2/10 and described it as a strong gaming option. That is the publication’s editorial score based on its review, not a standardized laboratory rating; the reviewer used a 65-inch unit rather than the 75-inch model. Read GadgetGuy’s U7QAU review. I’mTech’s review, dated 2025-06-22, discusses the refresh-rate and regional-variant caveats; read I’mTech’s Australian review.

Dark-room movies and viewing angle
Mini-LED backlighting is part of the 75U7QAU’s specification, but it does not eliminate the drawbacks reported in the hands-on review. Button observed blooming around bright objects in dark scenes, more obvious when watching off-centre, alongside a narrow optimal viewing angle. Those observations make the TV a less obvious choice for critical dark-room movie viewing or a wide seating arrangement. The available review evidence does not establish a controlled contrast or blooming measurement for the 75-inch set.

Sound and smart-TV features
Hisense specifies 2.1.2-channel audio. The consumer sheet lists two 10W main speakers, a 20W subwoofer and two 5W side speakers. Button found dialogue clear but bass limited, so viewers who want more weight for films or games may prefer an optional soundbar. Hisense’s Hi-Concerto feature works with selected Hisense audio products; check compatibility for the exact product rather than assuming every soundbar supports it.

Price and availability in Australia
Hisense Australia displayed a price of $2,099 including GST and marked the 75-inch product out of stock on 2026-10-07. This is a dated snapshot of the manufacturer’s listing, not a current price promise or a market-wide average. Check Australian retailers for the exact 75U7QAU model, current stock and sale price before deciding whether it represents good value.

For comparison, focus on the delivered price for this exact size and model, whether you need the listed gaming features, how many seats must have a good view, and whether the reported dark-scene blooming and speaker bass limitations matter to you. GadgetGuy positions the step-up U8QAU as offering many more dimming zones, but the available information does not establish a complete ranking against competing TVs.
Should you buy the Hisense 75U7QAU?
Consider it if you want a large Australian-market 4K TV for sport and gaming, mostly watch near the centre of the screen, and find a suitable price for the exact model. Its feature list is strong on connectivity, with four HDMI 2.1 ports and VRR, while the reviewer’s hands-on assessment favours sports and gaming.
Look elsewhere if your room has a wide seating layout, dark-room film viewing is your priority, or you expect powerful bass without external audio. Also avoid paying extra solely for a confirmed 165Hz mode unless the retailer or manufacturer can verify that the exact 75-inch configuration supports the refresh rate you need. CHOICE has a page for the exact 75U7QAU, but its expert rating, recommendation and detailed pros and cons are available only to members, so they cannot be used here to substantiate a verdict.
