Hideo Kojima says he has filmed cameos in “a big live-action movie” and “a major anime title,” but neither production has been identified. In a report published October 6, 2026, NME said Kojima did not reveal whether the movie is Japanese or international. No release schedule for either project has been confirmed.
What did Hideo Kojima announce?
During the returning KOJI10 radio show, Kojima said he had already filmed appearances in “a few other things,” including a big live-action movie and a major anime title. The descriptions are his; the reports do not name either production, a character he plays, or a release date. NME’s October 6, 2026 report says Kojima also stayed silent when asked whether the film was Japanese or international.

GamesRadar+ also reported an unnamed game appearance, but there is no basis for treating it as the same project as either screen cameo. GamesRadar+’s October 6, 2026 coverage does not identify that game either.
Is the movie Godzilla Minus Zero?
Not according to any confirmation in the reports. NME notes that fans have speculated the movie could be Godzilla Minus Zero, partly because director Takashi Yamazaki is Kojima’s friend. That remains fan speculation: Kojima has not identified the film, and the report does not establish a connection to the production.

Which Kojima screen appearances are already known?
GamesRadar+ puts the new teaser alongside earlier appearances discussed on KOJI10: Kojima played Commissioner Watanuki in the Japanese crime drama Vivant and had a voice role in the Japanese dub of Zootopia 2. Those are prior credits, not evidence that either title is one of the unnamed upcoming projects.

GamesRadar+ attributes this comment to Kojima during the KOJI10 discussion: “I don’t like playing myself. That happens a lot. I’d rather play a detective or something.” It expresses a preference for character roles, but does not reveal who he plays in the movie or anime.
