A Vivek Ramaswamy town hall in Tiffin, Ohio, was moved on October 1, 2026, from a university event center to a much smaller party room. A local report also described a pre-event warning of “very low” turnout and a later geographic mistake about Risingsun. The report does not give an attendance count or explain why the venue changed.
What happened at the Tiffin town hall?
State Rep. Gary Click had promoted Ramaswamy’s Tiffin appearance for nearly two weeks, writing, “Please join us and help spread the word! I’m looking forward to bringing Vivek Ramaswamy to the 88th District for a Tiffin Town Hall!” The event scheduled for October 1 was initially set for Tiffin University’s Marion Center, then moved at the last minute to Reino’s Catering & Party Room, according to TiffinOhio.net’s October 2 report.
How much smaller was the replacement venue?
| Venue | Reported capacity or booking requirement | What it does—and does not—show |
|---|---|---|
| Tiffin University’s Marion Center | Up to 450 in theater seating or 240 in banquet seating; at least 100 guests required for a booking, according to TiffinOhio.net, citing university event-services information. | These are venue figures, not the number of people expected or present at the event. |
| Reino’s Catering & Party Room | Roughly 50 people, according to TiffinOhio.net. | This is the reported room capacity, not a count of attendees. |
The local report says organizers did not publicly explain the move. It therefore establishes that the event shifted to a considerably smaller space, but not why organizers made that decision or whether the original venue’s booking requirement played a role.

Was turnout actually counted?
No precise attendance figure appears in the local report. Before the event, an unnamed source within the Seneca County Republican Party forecast “very low” turnout. That is an attributed prediction, not a count, an official party statement, or an explanation for the venue change.

TiffinOhio.net describes photographs showing a small group seated at restaurant tables and other attendees standing around the room. Those descriptions do not establish an exact headcount. The protesters reported outside the venue are likewise not evidence of how many people attended the town hall.
What was the county error?
After the Tiffin event, Ramaswamy traveled to a second gathering in Risingsun. TiffinOhio.net reported that he identified the village as being in Seneca County; Risingsun is in Wood County. The report documents a geographic error, without establishing why it occurred.

What does “He’s a dud!” tell us about Ohio reaction?
The phrase “He’s a dud!” appeared in an individual comment in an October 2 Reddit discussion. The Nerd Stash article corresponding to the supplied headline described online criticism as well. These examples show that some people mocked Ramaswamy online after the events; they are not polling and do not establish how Ohio voters generally view him. The reported protest and the online comments should be read as specific reactions, not a representative measure of public opinion.
