Choose Heroes of Crown: Legends if you want to focus on assembling synergistic hero teams, positioning them for battles, and competing in guild and arena modes. Choose AFK Journey if you would rather explore a story-led fantasy world, take on tactical battles, and switch between mobile and PC. Both advertise idle rewards, but neither game is established as the better choice overall by the available official information.
How the games differ
Both are fantasy RPGs built around collecting heroes and making progress while away. Their official descriptions emphasize different activities, though: Heroes of Crown: Legends puts team building and competition in the foreground, while AFK Journey centers on an explorable world and story.
Heroes of Crown: Legends
The game’s store listings describe collecting heroes from different factions and origins, upgrading abilities, and forming teams around synergy. Battles involve tactical positioning. AFK Journey
AFK Journey is set in Esperia, where players take the role of Merlin and explore a storybook-style world. The publisher describes quests, idle rewards, tactical combat involving environmental traps and timed ultimate moves, and full voice acting. Its official announcement also says players can switch between mobile and PC. The launch announcement and the Google Play listing describe its features; Apple’s US App Store listing describes strategic card battles and formations.

Platforms and store disclosures
Availability and requirements can differ by storefront and region. The US App Store listing for Heroes of Crown: Legends names iPhone support and requires iOS 15.0 or later; its Google Play listing names Android and Windows. The US App Store listing for AFK Journey covers iPhone and iPad, while its Google Play listing names Android and Windows. The publisher’s cross-play confirmation is the clearest evidence for switching between mobile and PC in AFK Journey; shared platform listings alone do not establish cross-play.

Spending: what the listings do and do not tell you
Both games are free to download and offer in-app purchases. Heroes of Crown: Legends is additionally marked as containing loot boxes on Apple’s US listing and random-item purchases on Google Play. AFK Journey’s listings disclose in-app purchases. These disclosures may matter if you prefer to avoid randomized purchases, but they do not establish which game is cheaper to advance in, more generous to free players, or less pay-to-win. The official material does not settle which game offers faster free progression, requires less daily active time, has more favorable progression gates, or treats spending more fairly. Store ratings and download counts can change and do not provide a reliable head-to-head measure of quality. Without comparable testing or evidence beyond promotional descriptions, the practical choice is based on the kind of play each game advertises rather than a proven winner.
