Heartland is a Netflix thriller starring Jessica Chastain as Misty Jones, a retired country music star who returns to Nashville to investigate the disappearance of her niece, Charlie. Netflix has announced a November 13, 2026 release date; that is a scheduled date, not confirmation that the film is already available.
What is Heartland about?
Misty Jones has been away from Nashville for 20 years. When Charlie Heart, her 22-year-old niece and a rising country singer, goes missing, Misty comes out of seclusion to search for her. The investigation draws Misty into Nashville’s darker side and forces her to confront parts of her own past.

Charlie’s boyfriend, Jace, and her manager, Roy Combs, are among the people Misty encounters as she tries to find out what happened. Netflix describes the film as a thriller and tags it with mystery, investigation, country music, and amateur detective.
Why does the film mix country music and noir?
Writer-director Shana Feste sets the disappearance mystery inside Nashville’s country-music world, using a film-noir approach rather than making the music scene merely a backdrop. Netflix presents the movie as Feste’s return to Nashville after Country Strong, this time through suspense and a complicated central character.

The trailer coverage highlights Misty and Winnie Jo Lean performing the title song, “Heartland.” Chastain sings for the role.
