Why did HDAC choose the name Averant?

The announcement said the new name was intended to represent the company’s strategic positioning in verification technologies. It presented “Averant” as a coined name combining “aver” and “-ant”: the announcement explained “aver” as “confirm to be true,” connecting it to confirmation of design intent and correctness, while saying “-ant” conveyed a proactive approach to business.

Graham Bell, identified in the announcement as Averant’s director of marketing, said: “We chose Averant for the way it sums up who we are today, and where we’re going next,” and “We are changing the way ASIC designers do verification.”
