HBO Max’s 20% discount for 12 months was a limited U.S. promotion that ended January 25, 2022. At the time, a contemporaneous report said qualifying new and returning subscribers could get the ad-supported plan for $7.99 per month or the ad-free plan for $11.99 per month, for up to 12 months. The offer is expired, not a deal you can redeem now.
What the HBO Max 20% discount for 12 months offered
Talk Android reported on January 14, 2022, that the promotion reduced the then-listed monthly prices by 20%. The figures below describe that historical offer only; they are not verified current prices.

Talk Android’s January 14, 2022 report is the source for the rates, eligibility, redemption channels, and deadline. An official 2022 promotion terms page was not available to verify those details independently.

The report said the offer was for new and returning HBO Max subscribers; existing subscribers were excluded. It listed HBOMax.com, Amazon, Apple, Google Play, and Roku as redemption channels. Because the promotion has ended, these historical eligibility rules and channels do not create a current sign-up option.

Is the HBO Max 20% deal still available?
No. The 2022 offer ended January 25, 2022. Do not confuse it with a separate U.S. promotion announced by Warner Bros. Discovery in 2026: that campaign offered 40% savings against regular monthly pricing for prepaid annual Basic With Ads, Standard, and Premium plans, and ran from June 18 through July 15, 2026. It has also expired as of October 4, 2026.
Warner Bros. Discovery’s June 18, 2026 announcement identifies HBOMax.com, Prime Video Subscriptions, and The Roku Channel as channels for the later annual-plan campaign. That offer’s prepaid yearly billing structure is different from the monthly 2022 discount and should not be treated as a term of the earlier promotion.
