Hark launched Hark Pro on October 6, 2026, as a free AI assistant for the web, iOS, and Android. According to the company, it remembers your preferences, carries out errands in a cloud browser called Handoff, and suggests next steps before you ask for them. Paid plans add usage capacity, not features. Everything in this article about what the assistant can do is Hark’s own description. No independent test of how reliably it completes tasks had been published when this was written.
What Hark Pro is and where it runs
Hark’s launch announcement, dated October 6, 2026, describes Hark Pro as an app that works on iOS, Android, and the web. TechCrunch’s coverage of the same day reports the launch and includes comments from Hark CEO Avi Schiffmann. Hark also maintains a Pro app listing in the Apple App Store, which is a vendor-submitted page rather than an independent review.
The product is a general-purpose assistant. It is not a standalone device, and nothing in the company’s current materials requires you to buy hardware to use it.
Free plan versus paid usage tiers
Hark says every feature is available on the free plan. The paid plans are sold on how much you can use the assistant, measured against the free allowance. The current pricing page lists the following tiers. Prices and usage multipliers can change, so check the live pricing page before you subscribe.

- PREMIUM ULTRA-SLIM DESIGN WITH INSTANTVIEW DISPLAY: Meticulously designed, the AI Note Taker is just 0.12 inches thin and 1.06 oz —about the size of a credit card. Its sleek aluminum body with a textured wave finish features a vivid AMOLED display, letting you check battery and recording status at a glance, while it seamlessly works with Apple Find My to ensure you never misplace it
| Plan | Price (as listed on Hark’s pricing page at time of writing) | Usage compared with the free plan | Features |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free (Hark Pro) | $0 | Baseline allowance; absolute limit not stated in Hark’s materials | All features, according to Hark |
| Hark Pro² | $20 per month | 2× more usage | Same features as the free plan, according to Hark |
| Hark Pro³ | $100 per month | 10× more usage | Same features as the free plan, according to Hark |
Hark does not describe the free tier as a time-limited trial. If you expect to run many tasks each day, the question to answer before paying is whether the free allowance is enough for your workload. Hark’s materials do not publish the absolute number of tasks or messages each tier allows, so the multiplier is the only usage figure the company gives.
What Hark says it can do
Persistent chat with memory
Hark describes one continuous conversation that keeps track of your preferences and context over time. The company’s examples are preferences such as how you like things organized and details you have mentioned in earlier chats. Hark says memory is used to make later requests shorter and more accurate, but it does not publish a list of what is stored or how long it is kept.
Handoff: a cloud computer with a browser
Handoff is the part of the system that does the work. Hark describes it as a cloud computer with a browser that can open websites, navigate them, and take actions on your behalf. Because the browser runs in Hark’s cloud, a task can keep going after you close the app, though the company’s materials do not say how long a task can run or how a stalled task is reported to you.

- Ordering groceries
- Managing a calendar
- Booking flights
- Summarizing Slack threads
- Working with Google Docs
For some services, Hark also describes direct integrations with Google Workspace and Microsoft 365. Direct integrations do not depend on a browser session the way website navigation does, so they are the more predictable route for those services. Hark does not say which actions use an integration and which fall back to the browser.
Proactive suggestions and reminders
The launch announcement makes proactivity the central promise. Instead of waiting for a new prompt, Hark says the assistant anticipates related needs. Its example is booking a movie ticket and then checking parking near the cinema, offering to reserve a nearby garage space. A second example in the same announcement is noticing that a student’s lunch-card balance may need topping up.

You can also set scheduled tasks and reminders. These are the controllable side of proactivity: you decide what runs on a schedule, while the suggestions are the assistant’s own initiative.

Hark’s usefulness depends on access. To book, order, or manage calendars, the assistant must use accounts you connect and logins it stores securely. That is the core trade-off: the more you connect, the more it can do, and the more personal information it can reach.
Hark makes the following statements about its handling of that access:

- It does not sell user data or advertise with it, according to its current usage guide.
- It encrypts sensitive credentials, according to the same guide.
- Its homepage describes end-to-end encryption.
- It says it checks with users before doing anything that requires approval.
The company’s materials do not spell out which actions require approval, so you cannot assume every purchase or message will pause for confirmation. No independent security audit of Hark’s systems was available at the time of writing.
In TechCrunch’s October 6 coverage, Schiffmann explains the personalization rationale this way: “we are doing work to understand you, and be helpful for what you need, but it’s really like task related—it’s really about how Hark can help take something off your plate and be useful.” That is the company’s account of its intent, not a privacy guarantee.
Before you connect an account
- List the services you want Hark to access, and connect only those you need for specific tasks.
- Check your connected accounts in the app’s settings and remove any you stop using.
- Decide in advance which actions you would never want performed automatically, such as payments or sending messages, and test them with low-stakes requests first.
- Read Hark’s current usage guide and privacy statements, since the company’s terms may change after launch.
Reading Hark’s 74.9% browser-time figure
Hark’s August 5, 2026 post introducing Handoff reports that 74.9% of surveyed screen time was spent in a browser. The company says the figure comes from a survey covering nearly 3 million screen minutes. It is a company-reported result. The material does not establish that the surveyed minutes represent all internet users or the general population, so treat it as an indication of how Hark sees the market rather than a measured industry statistic.
What is not yet established
- Task reliability: No independent measurement of how often Hark Pro completes tasks, or how often it fails, had been published.
- Comparative performance: No benchmark compares Hark Pro with other AI assistants.
- Security: The privacy and encryption descriptions are company statements. No independent audit was found.
- Approval flow: The exact list of actions that need your confirmation is not published.
Hardware plans
Hark says its first physical product is planned for 2027, and its manifesto refers to bespoke native hardware devices. The company has not described the device’s form, model, price, specifications, or release details. Treat this as a roadmap statement. There is nothing to buy now, and no hardware recommendation can be made from the available information.
For now, Hark Pro is a software product that runs on web, iOS, and Android, with the free plan as the starting point.
