Hare In The Hat has a built-in way to skip puzzles, but it is not a general-purpose cheat-code system—and using Skip can affect achievements. Here’s how the option works, what the Steam Community guide says about an Alt-key workaround, and how the base game’s achievements differ from those in its DLC, The Abyss.
How do you skip a puzzle in Hare In The Hat?
According to a Steam Community guide by Nomad1, a question-mark button appears in the upper-left corner of a puzzle window once the pieces needed to complete that puzzle are available. Open it to see the Reset and Skip options. Choosing Skip brings up a confirmation screen. The guide was posted October 6, 2015, and updated April 24, 2016.
- Open the puzzle after its required pieces are available.
- Select the question-mark button at the upper-left of the puzzle window.
- Choose Skip and review the confirmation before proceeding.
The guide documents this in-game option; it does not establish a list of general cheat codes for the game.

The community guide says confirming Skip awards the “Cheater” achievement instead of the corresponding puzzle-completion achievement. It warns that skipping may lock later achievements, but also describes an Alt-key method intended to preserve the possibility of earning the relevant puzzle achievement later. Because the guide’s warnings and detailed instructions do not amount to a guarantee, treat the method as dated community advice, not verified current-build behavior.

Alt-key method described by the guide
At the Skip confirmation screen, hold Alt while clicking Continue. The guide says Steam must be running and the player must be connected to the internet. It does not independently verify that this route still works in the current game build, so do not rely on it if an achievement is important to you.
If you already skipped
The guide says you can reset the game and solve the puzzles again after taking a skip. It does not provide a current-build guarantee about which achievements will be restored or when they will unlock.

- IT'S TIME TO PLAY A GAME WITH THE BAD HATTER: Take a trip to Wonderland and visit the Mad Hatter, who wants to play a game. Collect the most extravagant hats and become the talk of the tea party.
- STRATEGY BOARD GAME: In Hats, players compete to acquire the most outstanding hats by exchanging cards in hand with cards on the tea table board. Each card exchange influences how each hat is scored. Naturally, at the end of the game, the player with the highest score will be declared the maddest!
- SET COLLECTION GAME: On their turn, players can exchange hats or create a black hat which is worth 1 extra point at the end of the game. At any time during your turn, you may discard a single card of your choice to draw a new one from the draw deck. In a four-player game, players will exchange cards with their teammates.
- FUN GAME FOR FAMILY GAME NIGHT: Players earn points for the hat cards in their collection based on the position of the matching type on the tea table board. Gain points for having your "favorite hat" and compete for the last cookie at the table by having the most different types of hat cards in their collection.
- NUMBER OF PLAYERS AND AVERAGE PLAYTIME: This game is made for 2 to 4 players and is suitable for ages 14 and older. Average playtime is approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
How many achievements are in Hare In The Hat?
Steam lists 34 achievements for the base game. That total is separate from the achievements announced for The Abyss, which is a DLC chapter rather than part of the base-game count.

In an April 29, 2016 announcement, developer RunServer described Hare In The Hat: The Abyss as the game’s second chapter and said it adds 17 achievements, 10 puzzles, and more than 90 minutes of gameplay. These are the developer’s launch figures, not a tested comparison of playtime with the base game. Check the current Steam listing for present availability and compatibility details.

RunServer’s September 5, 2022 announcement said the game was supported on macOS, including Apple Silicon Macs, 64-bit Linux, and Steam Deck. Those are dated developer claims; consult the current store listing for the latest platform information.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can you get all achievements in The Abyss?
The available verified information establishes the DLC’s announced total of 17 achievements, but not a complete achievement-by-achievement solution. Avoid assuming that the base-game puzzle-skip advice applies identically to every DLC achievement; the community guide does not establish that. For an achievement run, solve puzzles rather than confirming Skip unless you are willing to accept the guide’s stated risk.
Quick Recap

- Praga Caput Regni is the latest game from Vladimir Suchy, the designer of Underwater Cities. In this game, players take the role of wealthy citizens who are organizing various building projects in medieval Prague. By expanding their wealth and joining in the construction, they gain favor with the king. Players choose from six actions on the game board — the “action crane” — that are always available, but which are weighted with a constantly shifting array of costs and benefits.
- By using these actions, you can increase your resources, improve the strength of your chosen actions, and build “New Prague City”, the Charles Bridge, or city walls. You can possibly gain additional actions or even participate in the construction of St. Vitus Cathedral.
- Clever players will discover synergies between carefully timed actions and the rewards from constructing civic projects as all of the mechanisms mesh together. At the end of the game, the player who most impressed King Charles wins.
