If TV dialogue is hard to hear, a soundbar with a dedicated centre channel or an explicit Voice mode is a sensible feature to look for—but neither guarantees clearer speech in every room or on every programme. This India-focused guide compares the models named in HT Tech’s October 6, 2026 roundup, flags its model and price mismatches, and adds a distinct JBL option listed at ₹9,999. Check the exact variant, current price and TV connections before buying; the feature descriptions below are not the results of listening tests.
What to look for when TV speech is hard to hear
- Dialogue-focused design: A physical centre channel is intended to handle centrally mixed speech. A named Voice or dialogue mode is another relevant feature. Treat both as selection signals, not proof of measured intelligibility.
- Connection to your TV: HDMI ARC or eARC is convenient when both devices support the matching connection. Optical is a practical alternative when available on both. Confirm the ports on your TV and the exact soundbar variant before purchase.
- Channel layout and room fit: A 3.1 bar has a centre channel; 2.1 bars add a subwoofer to a two-channel setup, while 2.0 models omit the separate subwoofer. A wireless or wired subwoofer needs a suitable place to sit. More bass can suit films, but a subwoofer is not itself a dialogue-clarity feature.
- Do not shop by watts alone: The wattage figures below are product claims reproduced in the roundup, not comparable measurements of speech clarity or sound quality.
How the models compare
The feature and price details in the first seven rows are those reported by HT Tech on October 6, 2026. They are not independent test results. JBL’s separate SB510 listing is a manufacturer product page checked October 7, 2026; its price and availability can change.
| Model | Dialogue-oriented feature | Channels and bass | TV connections and other details | Price or model caveat |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| JBL Cinema SB190 | Voice button; HT Tech describes it as dialogue enhancement | 2.1; 6.5-inch wireless subwoofer | HDMI eARC, optical, Bluetooth; virtual Dolby Atmos, but no physical rear speakers | Price not stated in HT Tech’s listed details; verify current India listing |
| GOVO GOSURROUND 900 | No dedicated centre channel or Voice mode stated | 2.1; 6.5-inch subwoofer | HDMI, AUX, USB, Bluetooth 5.3; four EQ modes | Price not stated in HT Tech’s listed details. HT Tech notes some users report reduced clarity at high volume |
| boAt Aavante 2.1 2450 / 1600D | Four EQ modes; no dedicated centre channel or Voice mode stated | 2.1; wired subwoofer | HDMI ARC, optical, USB, AUX, Bluetooth 5.4 | HT Tech’s heading and Amazon-linked product name say “2450,” while its description says “1600D” and claims 240 W. Confirm the exact SKU and its specifications before treating this as a single product recommendation |
| Sony HT-S100F | Voice and Night modes | 2.0; no external subwoofer | HDMI ARC, optical, USB, Bluetooth 4.2; Bass Reflex speaker and S-Force Front Surround | HT Tech states 120 W; price not stated in its listed details |
| Samsung HW-T42E/XL | No dedicated centre channel or Voice mode stated | 2.1; built-in woofer | Optical, USB, Bluetooth; Dolby Digital | HT Tech listed ₹10,490 on October 6, 2026—above this article’s budget. Gadgets 360 reported ₹7,499 on July 25, 2026, a dated price rather than a current offer |
| boAt Smartchoice Aavante 2.1 1600D / Orion Plus | Four EQ modes; no dedicated centre channel or Voice mode stated | 2.1; wired subwoofer | HDMI ARC, optical, USB, AUX, Bluetooth 5.4; Dolby Audio | HT Tech states 160 W RMS; price not stated in its listed details. Do not assume this is the same listing as the mismatched “2450 / 1600D” entry |
| Philips TAB4319/94 | Voice mode | 2.1; 5.25-inch wired subwoofer | HDMI ARC/eARC, optical, USB, Bluetooth 5.0 | HT Tech states 80 W maximum output and says power may be limited for larger rooms; price not stated in its listed details |
| JBL Cinema SB510 | Dedicated centre driver; JBL says it is designed to provide voice clarity | 3.1; built-in subwoofer | HDMI ARC, Bluetooth; Dolby Audio | JBL India listed it at ₹9,999 when its product page was checked on October 7, 2026. Price and stock are volatile; JBL’s clarity statement is a manufacturer claim, not an independent test |
Which option best matches your setup?
If speech is your priority
Start by comparing the SB510’s dedicated centre driver with the Voice modes listed for the Sony HT-S100F and Philips TAB4319/94, and the Voice button on the JBL Cinema SB190. JBL describes the SB510’s centre channel as delivering dialogue clarity, but that is the manufacturer’s claim—not a measured result. The listed features do not establish which bar will sound clearest in your room or with a particular TV programme.
If you want a compact setup
The Sony HT-S100F is the only 2.0 model in the roundup, and HT Tech lists no external subwoofer for it. That can mean fewer components to place, though the listed specifications alone cannot tell you how well it will suit your room or listening preferences.
#1 Best Overall
- Amp up your audio - Fire TV Soundbar enhances TV audio with dual speakers for fuller sound, clearer dialogue, and deeper bass—all in a compact design.
- Immersive sound - Enjoy a three-dimensional virtual surround sound experience with DTS Virtual:X and more detail with Dolby Audio.
- Easy setup - Just plug in the included HDMI cable to the HDMI eARC/ARC port on your TV to instantly enjoy audio that's always in sync.
- Compact design - With a length of 24“ and a height of just 2.5", Fire TV Soundbar fits most entertainment consoles and TV stands.
- Stream audio with Bluetooth - Connect your phone or tablet via Bluetooth to fill the room with your favorite music.
If you want more bass
The SB190 has a wireless external subwoofer; the GOVO, Philips and boAt entries have wired external subwoofers. The Samsung has a built-in woofer, and JBL describes the SB510 as having a built-in subwoofer. Check available space and cable placement for an external unit. A subwoofer adds bass capability; it does not replace a dialogue-focused feature.
If your TV relies on optical audio
Among the listed models, HT Tech specifies optical input for the SB190, Sony HT-S100F, Samsung HW-T42E/XL, both boAt entries and Philips TAB4319/94. It does not list optical for the GOVO GOSURROUND 900 or JBL SB510. Verify the exact product listing and your TV’s output ports, especially if a specific connection is essential.

Check the exact model, ports and price before ordering
- Match the product identity: The HT Tech entry headed “boAt Aavante 2.1 2450” describes a “1600D” in its body. Its 240 W claim belongs to that mismatched entry and should not be relied on until the seller or manufacturer listing confirms the SKU and specification. The roundup also separately names a Smartchoice Aavante 2.1 1600D / Orion Plus, so do not merge the two entries.
- Check your TV’s audio output: Confirm that the TV and soundbar share HDMI ARC/eARC or optical as needed. The roundup does not list HDMI ARC for the GOVO or Samsung models, and the JBL SB510 page lists HDMI ARC but not optical.
- Recheck the live India price and stock: The Samsung is not under ₹10,000 at HT Tech’s displayed ₹10,490 price, despite Gadgets 360’s older ₹7,499 report from July 25, 2026. The SB510 was listed at ₹9,999 on JBL India’s page checked October 7, 2026. Neither dated price guarantees a current checkout price.
- Use wattage only as a specification: The listed output figures come from product descriptions, and the sources do not establish a common measurement method or a speech-clarity score. They cannot rank dialogue performance.
Sources and what they establish
- HT Tech’s October 6, 2026 roundup supplies the seven model descriptions and the Samsung price noted above. Its boAt heading/body mismatch is why the two identities are qualified here.
- JBL India’s Cinema SB510 page lists the 3.1-channel SB510, its centre driver, HDMI ARC, Bluetooth and ₹9,999 price as checked October 7, 2026. JBL’s voice-clarity language is manufacturer copy, not independent evidence of performance.
- Gadgets 360’s guide, updated July 25, 2026 reports ₹7,499 for the Samsung HW-T42E/XL on that date; it does not establish a current price.
