What kind of HandBrake alternative do you need?

IloveVideo: a browser tool that says it processes locally
IloveVideo says its FFmpeg WebAssembly tool runs inside the browser tab and processes files in browser memory. The provider identifies available device memory as a practical constraint. If you are looking for an “online version of HandBrake” but do not want to upload a video to a conversion service, this distinction may matter. Read the provider’s description at IloveVideo.
Treat those processing and privacy statements as the provider’s claims, not as independently verified security findings. “Runs in the browser” alone is not a guarantee about every aspect of data handling. For confidential material, review the service’s current policies and verify its behavior to the level your situation requires. Large files may also be limited by the memory available to the device and browser.

Shutter Encoder: broader features if installation is acceptable
Shutter Encoder is an installed application, so it does not meet a strict no-install requirement. Its documentation covers many codecs and broadcast formats, plus operations beyond ordinary transcoding. For example, it documents stream-copy cuts, which can avoid video re-encoding, and rewrapping when the destination container supports the source codec. For a simple one-off conversion

Consider Shutter Encoder if installing an application is acceptable and its documented operation matches your need. Distinguish a stream-copy or rewrap task from transcoding: the former can avoid re-encoding video when compatible, while HandBrake always converts the video stream.

- Identify the source container and video and audio codecs, then confirm the tool can read them.
- Confirm the output container and whether you need to preserve subtitles, audio tracks, or other streams.
- Decide whether you need a true transcode, a cut, a merge, or a container change; these are different tasks.
