Yes, with qualifications. An unofficial community port of Halo: Combat Evolved for Allwinner H700 handhelds now includes online multiplayer, including a public server browser and online and local-network play. The project’s developer, Masterchief1307, reports joining a public Blood Gulch match with 22 other players, 23 participants in total, and a frame rate of 50–60 fps, mostly 58–60. Those are the developer’s figures from one session on one build. They are not independent benchmarks, and they are not a guarantee that every match will hold that rate.
What kind of port this is
The project is a native ARM64 build based on the Halo CE decompilation project. It is not Xbox emulation, so the game code runs directly on the handheld rather than inside an emulator layer. The port targets Allwinner H700 handhelds, and the Anbernic RG35XX H is the device the project uses for testing. Nothing about it is official: Halo: Combat Evolved is not shipped with the port, and you must supply your own game data (see below).

The developer’s wording also says the handheld mostly ran at 58–60 fps during that match. That is one match, on one build, reported by the person who wrote the port. It shows the connection and the rough performance range, but it does not measure how the game behaves across different maps, player counts or network conditions.

Three different frame-rate measurements
Most of the confusion around “60 fps” comes from treating three separate measurements as one number. They should be read separately.
| Measurement | Reported figure | Conditions | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Public multiplayer match | 50–60 fps, mostly 58–60 | One public 23-player Blood Gulch match in the developer’s session | Developer’s Reddit post |
| Server browser | 60 fps after a text-rendering optimization; earlier browser performance was 18–26 fps | Browser screens only, not gameplay | Developer figures as summarised by Notebookcheck |
| Main menu | 60 fps | Knulli Gladiator II, stock thermal limits, dynamic resolution enabled, default 0.75 render scale | Project performance table |
| Silent Cartographer beach battle | About 43 fps (range 38–47) | Same conditions as the main menu row | Project performance table |
| Halo opening scene | About 59 fps (range 39–60) | Same conditions as the main menu row | Project performance table |
The “up to 60 fps” in the headline is the ceiling of what has been reported. The floor in demanding scenes sits well below it, and the beach battle is the clearest example of that gap.

Why the October 7 figures do not line up neatly
The October 7 release added tested muOS support and described memory, audio and demanding-scene improvements. Notebookcheck’s summary of the developer’s figures puts the Silent Cartographer beach battle at 33–46 fps on muOS and 45–58 fps on Knulli. The project’s performance table gives the same scene at about 43 fps (range 38–47) on Knulli. The sources do not say which build each set of numbers was measured on, so these should be treated as separate developer measurements rather than one corrected figure.
What you need before you start
- Original Xbox game data. The documentation calls for a North American or European Xbox ISO or XISO. PC-version map files do not work with this port.
- About 3 GB of free space on the storage card. This covers the extracted maps, the cache and the disc image while setup runs.
- First-launch extraction. The port pulls map data out of the image you supplied on first launch, so the first start takes longer than later starts.
- A compatible opponent build. Online play is with compatible OpenCE builds on PCs or other handhelds. Standard copies of the game will not match with this port.
Tested firmware and devices

|---|---|---|
| Anbernic RG35XX H with Knulli Gladiator II | Documented as tested | Basis for the campaign performance table |
| PortMaster package on muOS 2601 Jacaranda | Tested from release v2026.10.07 | Earlier releases are not listed as tested on this firmware |
| Other firmware and device combinations | Not stated as tested | Treat as unverified unless the project says otherwise |
What has not been confirmed yet
The developer’s multiplayer announcement says hosting and online campaign co-op are included. At the time of that post, the developer had not personally tried either mode on the handheld. Joining a public match is the only online mode with firsthand reporting from the developer on this device. If you need co-op or hosting, check the project’s current notes before relying on them.
