The Haier HCI905FTB3 is a 90cm, five-zone induction cooktop with a paired Flexi Zone, boost settings and touch-and-slide controls. It may suit a kitchen with room for a wide hob and the electrical capacity its installation requires. Haier’s specifications describe the features, while CHOICE lists an overall score of 90; the accessible CHOICE listing does not provide enough test detail to explain that result. This is a specification-led review, not a hands-on test.
What is the Haier HCI905FTB3?
Haier Australia describes the HCI905FTB3 as a black-glass 600 Series induction cooktop. Its five cooking zones include a Flexi Zone formed by pairing two zones. That layout is intended to offer more room for larger cookware or a griddle, although the manufacturer’s specifications do not establish how well a particular pan or griddle performs in practice. Haier’s product specifications are the basis for the feature descriptions below.
Features and zone specifications
Zone layout and power
Haier lists the following zone ratings. Boost figures are maximum ratings for the boost function, not a claim that every zone can sustain that output indefinitely or operate at maximum power simultaneously.
| Zone | Listed power | Listed boost power |
|---|---|---|
| Centre | 2300W | 3000W |
| Flexi Zone | 2500W | 2800W |
| Left front | 2000W | 2600W |
| Left rear | 1500W | 2000W |
| Right front | 1500W | 1800W |
| Right rear | 2000W | 2600W |
These are manufacturer-listed specifications, not independent measurements. Haier says the hob has nine heat settings plus boost. The paired-zone design is the principal layout feature to consider if you regularly use elongated cookware; check the current manual for cookware placement guidance before relying on it for a specific pan.

Controls, timer and safety functions
The listed controls are touch-and-slide. Other listed functions include a timer and pause function, child lock, coil sensors, overheat and overspill alerts, and hot-surface indicators. These feature descriptions do not demonstrate how responsive the controls feel or how effectively the alerts work in everyday use.
What does the independent score tell you?
CHOICE’s listing reports an overall score of 90 for the HCI905FTB3 and names Fiona Mair as the tester. The listing also records five zones, 90cm width, 7.4kW maximum power output and dimensions of 90 × 52cm. However, the accessible listing does not disclose sufficient test method, comparative context or sub-scores to show what drove the result. Treat 90 as CHOICE’s reported overall score, not as evidence that a particular feature is exceptional or that this cooktop outranks alternatives. CHOICE’s HCI905FTB3 listing does not state a publication year in the accessible information.

Haier lists the cooktop dimensions as 900mm wide, 520mm deep and 60mm high, with a benchtop cutout of 870 × 490mm. The appliance’s outside dimensions and cutout dimensions are different measurements: check both against your available bench and cabinetry. The product page and installation guide are the relevant references.
Check electrical requirements before purchase
The installation guide lists 220–240V, 50–60Hz and 6800–7400W installed power. Haier’s product page specifies a 30.9A draw. These figures describe the appliance’s stated requirements; they do not confirm that your home’s circuit or existing connection is suitable. Ask a qualified installer to check the site requirements against the current guide before installation.

- FAST & EFFICIENT COOKTOP - Induction cooking eliminates open flames and heats only the pan, keeping the surrounding area cool. It cooks faster and more efficiently than traditional burners, saving both time and energy in the kitchen.
- INTELLIGENT DYNAMIC WATT TECHNOLOGY - Unlike standard portable cooktops that split power evenly, Dynamic Watt Technology intelligently distributes energy between both burners. Rapidly boil water on one side while maintaining a gentle simmer on the other without sacrificing performance.
- ADVANCED PRECISION HEATING - Choose from 5 preset temperatures or customize between 50°F to 575°F in 5-degree increments. The Precision Key gradually increases heat to better maintain your selected cooking temperature. Enjoy more controlled results for recipes that require steady, even heat like steak, chocolate, and more.
- ADVANCED SEAMLESS IMD TOUCH PANEL - The integrated IMD structure creates a smooth, edge-to-edge glass surface with responsive touch controls. The seamless design prevents food or debris from collecting in gaps while protecting internal components from spills.
- TRUE INDEPENDENT DUAL-ZONE COOKING - Each burner operates with its own dedicated controls, allowing you to cook two dishes at different temperatures simultaneously. Perfect for multitasking meals or preparing sauces and sides alongside your main course.
Warranty and buying considerations
Haier lists a two-year parts-and-labour warranty. Confirm the current warranty terms for your purchase and market with Haier. No current street price or marketplace availability is established here, so compare the exact HCI905FTB3 model and local warranty terms when checking retailer listings.
Before choosing this model, weigh the five-zone layout and paired Flexi Zone against your normal cookware, available bench space and installation capacity. If comparing it with another 90cm induction cooktop, compare zone layout, boost and preset functions, controls, cutout, electrical load, warranty and the detail available behind any independent test score. Haier’s newer HCI905MFTB4 is a different model; do not assume it is a like-for-like replacement without checking its current specifications.
