The Haier HCI604TB1 is a 60 cm, four-zone induction cooktop with touch controls, nine heat settings and a timer. Haier’s documentation provides useful specifications and safety guidance, but the model is listed as discontinued and CHOICE’s public page does not disclose its performance scores. That means its features can be assessed from published information, but a definitive verdict on cooking performance is not possible from public evidence.
What the HCI604TB1 offers
Haier describes the HCI604TB1 as a 60 cm induction cooktop with a black-glass surface, four cooking zones and touch controls. Its 2021 quick-reference guide lists nine heat settings and a two-year parts-and-labour warranty. CHOICE lists a maximum capacity of 7 kW and a two-year warranty.
| Specification | Published information |
|---|---|
| Cooking zones | Four |
| Zone ratings | Left front: 2000 W; left rear: 1500 W; right front: 1500 W; right rear: 2000 W (Haier, 2021) |
| Controls and settings | Touch controls; nine heat settings (Haier, 2021) |
| Timer | Up to 99 minutes (Haier manual) |
| Electrical supply | 220–240 V; 50/60 Hz in the manual. The 2021 guide lists 26.1 A draw. |
| Maximum capacity | 7 kW (CHOICE, page accessed 2026) |
| Warranty | Two years; Haier’s 2021 guide specifies parts and labour |
The Haier manual gives heating-area ratings of 2000 W for 210 mm and 180 mm areas, and 1500 W for a 140 mm area. CHOICE lists usable pan diameters as one 21 cm, one 18 cm and two 14 cm. Those figures describe the published zones; they do not establish cooking speed or performance under particular conditions.

CHOICE labels the HCI604TB1 a discontinued model. Its page lists a price of $869, but that is not a verified current market price, and the discontinued listing does not establish that a new unit is available to buy. What the independent review evidence can—and cannot—tell you
CHOICE’s public entry identifies the product and its specifications, and says the year tested was 2023 or earlier. Its expert rating and detailed results—including cooking performance, ease of use, low- and high-heat scores, turn-down score and boil time—are available only to members. The public record therefore does not support a numerical rating or a conclusion that this cooktop performs well or poorly in testing.
What cookware works with it?
Use cookware with a base suitable for induction. Haier suggests checking the base with a magnet: if the magnet is attracted, the pan may be suitable. The base should be smooth and flat, and the pan should be centred and appropriately sized for the selected zone. The manual says pans smaller than 140 mm may not be detected.

- Silicone Sealed Glass Lid: Lids of the pots have silicone edge that creates a tight seal to lock in moisture and flavor, allows you to monitor cooking without lifting, and protects against chipping for added safety
- Cleanup Recommended: Always hand-wash your cookware with a neutral dish soap to effectively prevent black residue from forming on the base.
- Set Includes: 8'' frying pan, 9.5'' frying pan, 11'' frying pan, 2.5-qt saucepan with lid, 5.5-qt stockpot with lid, 5-qt sauté pan with lid, 6*pan protectors, 5*utensils.
Glass, ceramic, porcelain, wood and earthenware are not suitable, nor are non-magnetic aluminium, copper or stainless-steel pans. A material name alone is not enough to establish compatibility; the pan base must work with induction.

Using the touch panel
The manual says the controls respond to touch without pressure and recommends using the ball of a finger. Keep the control area clean and dry; water or an object on the panel can make it difficult to operate. The timer can be set for up to 99 minutes, and the cooktop also has a lock function, automatic pan detection and hot-area indicators.

Cleaning the glass
- For ordinary residue, use cooktop cleaner and a clean cloth or paper towel. Avoid abrasive materials that could scratch the glass.
- For hot sugary spills, Haier instructs users to switch off power at the wall and promptly use a scraper suitable for induction glass. Take care around the hot surface and scraper blade.
- Lift pans rather than sliding them across the glass.
Safety features and important cautions
The manual describes a keylock, hot-surface indicators, temperature protection and automatic shutoff behavior. These features do not replace supervision. Haier warns: “Unattended cooking on a hob with fat or oil can be dangerous and may result in a fire.”
- Do not rely on pan detection to switch a zone off after removing cookware.
- Hot-surface indicators may stay lit until the surface has cooled to a safe temperature; the cooling fan may continue running after cooking.
- If the glass cracks, switch the appliance off at the mains and contact a qualified technician.
- Haier recommends that people with cardiac pacemakers consult their doctor before using the hob.
Will it fit as a replacement?
Check the actual appliance and the cabinet opening before planning a replacement. Published dimensions differ: Haier’s manual gives overall dimensions of 590 × 520 × 62 mm, while its 2021 quick-reference guide gives 590 × 520 × 73 mm. CHOICE lists product dimensions of 59 × 52 cm and installation dimensions of 56 × 49 cm. The quick-reference guide also gives a 490 mm installation cutout dimension without specifying the width in the extracted text.

Because the published height and installation details do not align, do not assume that an existing opening will fit. A qualified installer should verify the exact appliance documentation, cutout, ventilation and cabinet requirements for the specific installation.
Electrical installation requirements
Haier says the cooktop must be connected to the mains supply by a suitably qualified person and that installation should be performed by qualified personnel. Before replacing another hob, have the installer check the home’s electrical supply and whether it can accommodate the appliance’s stated load. The published 220–240 V supply and 26.1 A draw are product specifications, not a substitute for an assessment of the home’s wiring, circuit or local requirements.

Verdict: a specifiable model, but not a fully assessable one
The HCI604TB1’s published specifications describe a conventional four-zone, touch-control induction hob with a timer and safety features. Its discontinued status, conflicting fit dimensions and unavailable public CHOICE performance results make it difficult to recommend as a replacement on the basis of performance or assumed drop-in fit. It is worth considering only if the exact unit is available, its condition and warranty are clear, and a qualified installer confirms compatibility with the intended cabinet and electrical supply.
