The Guinness Enterprise Centre (GEC) plans to grow its network of UK innovation-hub partners to 20 by the end of 2027. The aim is to help GEC client start-ups and scale-ups establish themselves in the UK through what the announcement describes broadly as “soft-landing supports.” This is a planned expansion of business support, not the opening of a GEC branch or launch of a physical product.

What the UK collaboration is intended to do

Silicon Republic reported on 2 October 2026 that the GEC is seeking to expand its strategic network with UK innovation hubs. The intended beneficiaries are GEC client start-ups and scale-ups looking to enter the UK market. The report describes the UK as Ireland’s biggest export market.

The reported target is 20 UK innovation-hub partners by the end of 2027. It is a plan, not confirmation that the network has already reached that size.

Which UK innovation hubs are already named?

The report identifies three existing partners:

  • Sister, an innovation district in Manchester.
  • Central Tech, in Liverpool.
  • CodeBase, in Scotland.

The report does not name additional planned partners or say whether the target of 20 includes all current relationships.

What support will participating start-ups receive?

The support is described as “soft-landing supports” for GEC clients entering the UK. The report does not specify the services, eligibility requirements, costs, application process, or how founders would be matched with a partner hub. It therefore does not establish that founders can choose a hub directly or apply to the network independently.

What founders should confirm before relying on the network

Because the announcement gives only a broad description of the support, a GEC client considering UK expansion should ask the centre for practical details before planning around a particular hub or service:

  • Which supports are available and whether they are advisory, workspace-related, introductions, or another form of assistance.
  • Who qualifies and how a client requests access.
  • Whether participation involves fees or other costs.
  • How partner hubs are selected for a company and whether founders can express a preference.
  • How the centre defines the 20-partner target and whether it includes the three named partners.

The announcement does not establish implementation progress, the final partner list, or whether the target has changed since it was reported.
