GTA 6 writer Alexa D’Agostino says Lucia’s imperfections are part of what makes her feel like a person: when a character has her own wants, she can be “perfectly imperfect.” The remark comes from a LOVE Magazine interview about writing Lucia Caminos, one of the game’s two leads—not from a review or an audience response to the finished game.
What the “perfectly imperfect” line means
In the interview, D’Agostino is asked about writing a female lead who is neither a victim nor a male fantasy, but a fully realised person with her own wants. That framing is the interviewer’s; D’Agostino’s answer is the phrase “perfectly imperfect.”
“When you are focusing on writing a fully realised person with their own wants, you’re going to get something perfectly imperfect—with clichés, but also undeniably real.”

Her point is that a character need not be idealized or free of familiar traits to feel believable. Lucia’s own desires—and the contradictions and clichés that can come with a person—are part of D’Agostino’s approach to writing her.

Where D’Agostino found inspiration for Lucia
D’Agostino says she thought about women she knows and her mother, an immigrant who grew up in Newark, New Jersey, near Liberty City, Lucia’s fictional hometown. She describes her mother as “rowdy, kind, but not to take any shit,” and says she related to Lucia. She presents these as personal reference points, not as a claim that Lucia is a direct portrait of her mother.
Lucia and Jason are meant to affect one another
The interview describes Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval as lovers on the run across Leonida, Rockstar’s take on modern Florida. Senior vice president of narrative Rupert Humphries says the two leads needed to complement and push and pull each other through the story. For Lucia specifically, he says:

“We wanted both protagonists to be vulnerable, tough, flawed, right sometimes, wrong sometimes, able to learn from each other, and that’s what we felt made them authentic, and a great team.”
These comments describe the writers’ aims for the characters. They do not establish how players will respond to them or how every part of their characterization will work in the released game.

How D’Agostino compares Lucia with past Rockstar leads
D’Agostino says this approach could create “a woman that can stand tall next to the likes of Arthur Morgan and Niko Bellic.” That is her confidence in Lucia as a character, not an independent ranking of the three protagonists.
GTA 6 release date, platforms, and premise
As of October 7, 2026, Rockstar’s official GTA 6 page lists November 19, 2026 as the release date and PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as the supported platforms. Its summary says an easy score goes wrong, drawing Jason and Lucia into a criminal conspiracy across Leonida and leaving them to rely on one another. These game details are separate from the writers’ subjective description of Lucia.
