A Reddit post dated October 5, 2026, reports that Costco was selling a $100 PlayStation Store gift card for $79.99 and that the buyer used it toward the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition. If that offer is still available and the credit can be used for the preorder, the $20 saving comes from buying discounted store credit—not from a lower PlayStation Store price for the game. Costco has not independently confirmed the offer in the available information, so check its current price and terms before relying on it.

How the reported Costco deal would save $20

The US PlayStation Store lists GTA 6 Ultimate Edition for PS5 at $99.99. The reported Costco offer is $79.99 for $100 in PlayStation Store credit. If you can buy that credit at the reported price and apply it to the preorder, the game uses $99.99 of the $100 balance, leaving about one cent—not $20—in your account.

#	Product	Price
1	$100 PlayStation Store Gift Card [Digital Code]	$100.00	Buy on Amazon
2	$25 PlayStation Store Gift Card [Digital Code]	$25.00	Buy on Amazon
3	$50 PlayStation Store Gift Card [Digital Code]	$50.00	Buy on Amazon
4	$10 -PlayStation Store Gift Card [Digital Code]	$10.00	Buy on Amazon
5	$75 PlayStation Store Gift Card [Digital Code]	$75.00	Buy on Amazon

The $20 saving is the difference between the card’s $100 face value and its reported $79.99 purchase price. The game itself remains listed at $99.99; you are using discounted credit to cover it. The account of the deal comes from a Reddit post dated October 5, 2026, rather than an official Costco listing. Check that the offer is live, that you are eligible, and that the card can be redeemed for this purchase before buying.

What GTA 6 editions cost on the US PlayStation Store

Ultimate Edition	$99.99	Grand Theft Auto VI, the Ultimate Edition Upgrade, Vintage Vice City Pack, one month of GTA+, and seven-day preload.

Check these terms before buying store credit

Confirm the offer directly with Costco. The reported $79.99 price for $100 of credit is not confirmed by an official Costco listing in the available information.
Check eligibility and limits. The report does not establish whether the offer is member-only, limited by account or quantity, restricted to the US, or still available.
Verify redemption for this transaction. Confirm that the card’s terms allow its use on the GTA 6 preorder and that you can redeem it on the PlayStation account you plan to use.
Review the GTA+ terms. PlayStation’s listing includes one month of GTA+ with the preorder and says the subscription auto-renews until canceled. Check the current offer terms, including the redemption deadline, and cancel if you do not want an ongoing subscription.

Is it better to preorder Standard and upgrade later?

The Standard Edition is listed at $79.99, while the Ultimate Edition is $99.99. Rockstar Support says Standard Edition owners can buy the Ultimate Edition Upgrade separately after redeeming the game code; physical-version buyers can upgrade after redeeming the download code. The current standalone upgrade price is not established in the available official information, so you cannot compare the eventual total cost with confidence. See Rockstar Games Support for the upgrade route and current product details.

Preordering Ultimate gives you the listed Ultimate content from the start. Buying Standard first preserves the option to upgrade later, but the final total depends on the upgrade price when you buy it. Choose based on whether the Ultimate extras matter to you and whether you prefer to decide about them later.

Release date and platform details

PlayStation lists November 19, 2026, as the release date for PS5 and PS5 Pro, and says GTA VI will not be playable on PS4. Rockstar Support lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S as preorder platforms. It also says physical versions contain a download code; that information does not establish a disc-based physical edition.
