Rockstar lists Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with Standard and Ultimate Editions. The boxed “physical” version is a download code, not a disc. Before buying, match the platform to the console you own, compare the edition contents, and check that the code’s region works with your platform account.
Rockstar currently lists November 19, 2026 as the release date and says preload begins at local midnight on November 12. Those dates and purchase terms can change, so verify the relevant store listing before ordering.
Which platforms is GTA 6 available on?
Rockstar currently lists Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The official sources reviewed do not list a PC version or another platform; that does not establish whether Rockstar will announce additional versions later. Check Rockstar’s official game page for the current platform list.
Rockstar’s game page labels the PS5 version “Plays Best On.” That is Rockstar’s label, not a published comparison based on independent performance tests. Choose the version for the console you own and intend to use.

Can you buy the Ultimate content later?
Yes. Rockstar says Standard Edition owners can buy the Ultimate Edition Upgrade separately through the PlayStation or Microsoft storefront after redeeming the Standard game code. Physical-code buyers must redeem the code first. The available information does not establish whether buying Standard and upgrading later costs less than buying Ultimate upfront.

Is the physical version a disc?
No. Rockstar says the boxed physical version contains a digital download code; there is no disc in the box. If you need a disc-based copy, Rockstar’s stated physical format is not one.

Rockstar says physical copies are expected to be available for shipping and pickup starting November 12, 2026, to support preload. Codes redeemed before launch can begin preloading on November 12. Rockstar lists the release date as November 19, 2026; check the current retailer listing for availability and timing in your area.
What preorder offers are listed?
Rockstar says digital preorders and purchases of either edition made before November 20, 2026 include the Vintage Vice City Pack and one month of GTA+ membership. The pack includes a ’55 Vapid Stanier Sedan and Garage, outfits and hairstyles, and an exclusive weapon pattern.

Rockstar’s support page describes the physical preorder contents as the game download code plus the Vintage Vice City Pack. It does not say that physical purchases include the one-month GTA+ membership. Check the live offer terms and format-specific eligibility with the store before relying on either bonus. The cutoff and availability may vary by storefront or change.
How do you avoid a code-region problem?
Rockstar says code redemption is tied to the region associated with the platform account and recommends buying from a retailer in the account’s country to avoid activation problems. Its support information lists regional eligibility for PlayStation codes and says Xbox codes are not region-locked. For an imported or third-party listing, verify the exact console and region before paying; a code that does not match the account may not redeem.
