Is the 24:49 GTA 6 video real, and how does it compare with Rockstar’s 27-minute Extended Look? The comparison is between two different videos: Rockstar’s official presentation, dated August 27, 2026, and a file called “Extended Leek” that Shattered.io reported surfaced October 8. The file’s identity and footage have not been independently verified; its 24:49 runtime is the outlet’s report, while the official video is described as roughly 27 minutes.
How the two GTA 6 videos compare
| Detail | Rockstar’s Extended Look | Alleged “Extended Leek” file |
|---|---|---|
| Source | Rockstar Games’ official video page (Rockstar Games) | Shattered.io reported that an anonymous account posted the file; its original source is not established (Shattered.io, updated October 9, 2026) |
| Status | Official presentation | Alleged file; neither its authenticity nor contents have been independently verified in the cited coverage |
| Date | August 27, 2026, according to Rockstar | Reportedly surfaced October 8, 2026, according to Shattered.io |
| Duration | Approximately 27 minutes, as rounded by Shattered.io; Rockstar’s page does not state an exact runtime | 24:49, as reported by Shattered.io; not an official Rockstar duration or independently confirmed measurement |
| Verification | Rockstar describes its presentation as captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5 | Shattered.io reported that Rockstar and Take-Two had not confirmed or denied the file on the record as of its October 9 update |
The runtime difference is about two minutes, but that comparison does not establish that one video is a shortened, edited, or leaked copy of the other. The available reporting does not establish a connection between them.
What Rockstar’s official video is
Rockstar’s official page calls the presentation “Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look” and dates it August 27, 2026. The company says it was “Captured entirely from in-game footage on the PlayStation 5.” That description applies to Rockstar’s presentation only; it does not authenticate the separately reported file.
Rockstar’s Newswire announcement said the presentation was playing on Netflix and would appear on Rockstar’s official YouTube channel and the GTA VI site. The announcement also says the game is coming November 19, 2026, to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Those are Rockstar’s stated release details, not evidence about the alleged file.

What is known about the 24:49 file
Shattered.io reported that a file titled “Extended Leek” appeared on October 8, 2026, and listed its runtime as 24:49. These are claims about an alleged file, not information confirmed by Rockstar. As of the report’s October 9 update, Shattered.io said it had found no on-record confirmation or denial from Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive and no independent verification of the footage as authentic gameplay.
The cited coverage does not establish the file’s original source, chain of custody, or technical metadata. It also does not establish that any scenes, features, build details, or character information in the file are genuine GTA VI content. Treat descriptions of its contents as unverified unless Rockstar or documented independent authentication provides a basis to do otherwise.

Don’t confuse the Extended Look with the earlier trailers
Rockstar’s official page lists Trailer 2 at 2:47 and Trailer 1 at 1:31. Both are much shorter, distinct videos—not the roughly 27-minute Extended Look. The “27 min” comparison refers to the Extended Look as rounded by Shattered.io, not to either trailer or an exact duration stated by Rockstar.
