Public GTA 6 footage shows a context-sensitive HUD with health, stamina and focus meters, plus a minimap, wanted stars and weapon information. Their broad purposes are identifiable, but Rockstar has not published a complete icon guide or confirmed the exact rules behind each meter. Here’s what the footage and available reporting support—and what remains interpretation.

What is confirmed about the GTA 6 HUD?

Rockstar’s official GTA VI page identifies the Extended Look as a video, but the official pages reviewed do not provide a full HUD manual. The interface described below is therefore what appeared in public footage and reporting, not a guarantee that every icon, position or mechanic is final.

Reporting describes the overall HUD as cleaner than GTA V’s. The footage and coverage also show a minimap, weapon wheel, equipped-weapon icon, and weapon and ammunition information. Their presence is visible; the available sources do not establish every setting or icon variation.

What do the health, stamina and focus meters mean?

The meters appear in public footage, but their exact numerical rules—such as thresholds, recovery rates or upgrades—are not fully documented in the official material reviewed.

Meter What it appears to indicate What is not established
Health A heart-associated bar is identified as the character’s health by secondary coverage. Beebom’s icon guide discusses the meter. No confirmed numerical values, regeneration threshold or upgrade rules.
Stamina An energy or lightning-associated meter is identified as stamina. Beebom associates depletion with sprinting, cycling and other physical activity; that is the guide’s interpretation. No confirmed exact activity costs or recovery rules.
Focus A focus meter is visible in the upper-left HUD. TechRadar describes footage in which gameplay slows after Jason uses it, suggesting a connection between focus and that effect. TechRadar’s HUD guide discusses the footage. No complete, officially documented list of effects or final resource rules.

Is there an oxygen meter?

Beebom describes an oxygen meter in scuba or underwater contexts. Treat this as a secondary guide’s interpretation of the footage: the official Rockstar material reviewed does not specify the meter’s behavior or confirm its detailed rules.

What do the wanted stars and icons beneath them mean?

The Extended Look is described as showing a wanted display that reaches six stars. GamesRadar reports that the icons beneath the stars indicate what the police recognize about the protagonists, including their clothing, faces, car and the fact that they are together. That is a reporter’s reading of the visible interface, rather than a published Rockstar icon specification. GamesRadar’s wanted-system coverage discusses the display.

Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson said: “The wanted system in GTA 6 requires that someone witness the crime, or an alarm needs to be set off for it to be reported to the law.” The statement describes how a crime gets reported; it does not establish every wanted-level rule or explain each icon’s exact visual variant.

What should you take from the footage?

  • Visible: health, stamina and focus meters, as well as a minimap, wanted display and weapon/ammo information.
  • Interpreted: the precise activity associated with stamina depletion, focus effects, the oxygen meter and the wanted-display recognition icons are explained through secondary reporting, not a comprehensive official guide.
  • Not documented in the reviewed official pages: exact meter formulas, upgrade thresholds, full HUD customization options and a complete icon glossary.

Rockstar identifies PlayStation 5 as a platform for GTA VI; the platform listing does not confirm that the interface shown in the Extended Look is the final release design.
