PlayStation has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI uses Tempest 3D AudioTech on PS5 for audio positioning across Leonida. The final game’s audio menu—including any headphone, surround, dialogue, or mix options—has not been documented in the official sources reviewed as of October 7, 2026. You can adjust some sound features through PS5 system settings, but those are console controls, not confirmed GTA 6 settings.
Does GTA 6 support 3D audio on PS5?
Yes. In a June 24, 2026 article, PlayStation said GTA VI uses Tempest 3D AudioTech on PS5, describing accurate positioning across Leonida’s soundscapes. That confirms PlayStation’s promoted spatial-audio experience; it does not establish a particular speaker layout, headset requirement, or in-game surround toggle. PlayStation’s GTA VI announcement is the platform-specific source for that claim.
Which GTA 6 audio settings are confirmed?
The official materials reviewed do not list GTA VI’s final in-game audio options. They do not confirm sliders or presets for dialogue, music, effects, dynamic range, headphones, or surround sound. Because the game has not launched as of October 7, 2026, those menus cannot yet be treated as verified. Check the game’s audio and accessibility menus after release rather than relying on rumored settings.
PlayStation’s US Store listing identifies PS5 as a platform for the game, but it does not provide a detailed audio-settings list. The listing may change as launch information is updated.

How to adjust GTA 6 headphone sound on PS5
PS5 system-level controls can change headphone volume and, on supported PlayStation headsets, equalization. These settings apply to the console audio experience; they are not GTA VI-specific presets. Sony’s instructions are in How to change audio settings on PlayStation 5 console.
- Open Settings > Sound > Audio Output on PS5 and adjust headphone volume to a comfortable level.
- If using a supported PlayStation headset, open its EQ controls and compare Standard with available modes such as Bass Boost, Shooter, or a custom profile.
- Use the setting that works best for your ears and content. Sony describes Shooter as emphasizing sounds such as shooting and footsteps; it is not a confirmed GTA VI dialogue mode.
Headset features vary by model, so check manufacturer compatibility details before assuming a particular EQ control is available. The cited PlayStation guidance does not establish that buying a new headset is necessary.

How to make GTA 6 dialogue louder on PS5 headphones
If voices are difficult to hear through headphones, try the PS5 system’s Audio Focus feature. Sony’s Audio Focus announcement says the Boost Voices preset amplifies character voices and other middle-frequency sounds.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Connect headphones by USB or analog audio; Audio Focus does not support audio from an HDMI-connected TV, AV receiver, or soundbar.
- On PS5, go to Settings > Sound > Volume > Audio Focus.
- Turn Audio Focus on and try Boost Voices. Compare it with the feature off and choose what sounds clearest in your setup.
This changes the console’s headphone audio, not a known GTA VI dialogue slider. It may not suit every headset or listener.

Should you use PS5 Mono Audio for Headphones?
Mono Audio for Headphones sends the same audio to both sides. It can help if stereo separation makes sounds in one channel difficult to hear, but it reduces directional separation and is not a surround-sound setting. To find it, go to Settings > Sound > Audio Output > Headphones and enable Mono Audio for Headphones. PlayStation documents the option in its PS5 accessibility settings guide.
What about Xbox audio, captions, and accessibility?
The official sources reviewed do not specify GTA VI’s final Xbox audio controls or establish comparable Xbox system settings for this game. Microsoft’s accessibility guidance is useful as a general design reference, not evidence that GTA VI implements these features.

- Xbox Accessibility Guideline 104 distinguishes subtitles, which represent speech, from captions, which can also convey important audio cues. It is guidance for game design, not a statement about GTA VI’s final subtitle or caption implementation.
On PS5, the PlayStation Store game hub can show accessibility feature information when available; the listed tags and features depend on the title. Consult the game’s own listing and menus for confirmed support.

How to choose settings after GTA 6 launches
Once the final menus are available, start with the game’s own audio and accessibility options. Compare voice audibility against music and effects, check whether spatial audio can be adjusted for your output device, and look for mono or caption options if they suit your needs. Keep the PS5 system controls separate from in-game controls when evaluating what changed.
