Groww is expanding beyond stockbroking and mutual funds as it looks to broaden its revenue mix, while quick-commerce-focused brands are seeking more working capital to stock for the festive season. These are separate developments: the October 8, 2026 ETtech Morning Dispatch reported both, but did not link Groww’s strategy to the seller-credit surge.

Why Groww is broadening its business

Groww was named Startup of the Year at the Economic Times Startup Awards 2026. The awards organizers cited its evolution from a mutual-fund app into a large stockbroking platform, its November 2025 IPO and profit growth, as well as its nationwide reach and disciplined scale. The official winners page presents the jury’s rationale; it is not an independent assessment of the company’s prospects.

ETtech reported that equity derivatives and stock trading accounted for 68.4% of Groww’s total income in the June quarter, compared with 75.7% in the same quarter a year earlier. That is a quarter-to-quarter-year comparison in the reported figures, not a full-year revenue breakdown. Groww’s stated aim is to grow newer offerings enough to change the mix over time.

The offerings Groww is expanding

  • Wealth advisory: Groww is building advisory services for investors.
  • AI-powered mutual-fund advisory: The company is developing guidance tied to mutual-fund investing.
  • Bonds and US stocks: These broaden the range of investments available through its platform.
  • Affluent-customer expertise: ETtech reported that Groww’s Rs 961-crore acquisition of Fisdom added expertise serving affluent customers.

CEO and cofounder Lalit Keshre told ETtech, “The other wealth pieces are growing very fast.” He also described retention as a platform strength: “The beauty of our platform is retention.” These are management’s statements about strategy, not evidence that the newer businesses will achieve a particular scale or profitability. Keshre said credit’s share was likely to remain stable, and that Groww was not actively seeking acquisitions: “If we see something good, we will consider it, but we are not actively looking to make acquisitions.”

Why quick-commerce brands need more working capital

Quick-commerce brands often place inventory in dark stores close to customers so orders can be fulfilled quickly. That model can require more stock to be held in multiple locations than traditional ecommerce, tying up cash in inventory while brands prepare for expected demand.

ETtech reported typical inventory levels of 1.7–2.5x for brands stocking quick-commerce dark stores, versus 1–1.25x for traditional ecommerce. The dispatch also cited perfume brand Secret Alchemist, whose working-capital requirement rose 35% year over year during the festive season. These are reported figures and a company example, not independently verified market-wide measurements.

What the festive credit figures measure

The reported numbers describe different metrics and have different evidence status. They should not be added together or treated as a single estimate of the quick-commerce credit market.

Figure What it measures Status and attribution
50% year-over-year rise Disbursements to quick-commerce-focused sellers Indifi figure reported by ETtech
40–50% growth to more than Rs 1,000 crore Festive disbursements FlexiLoans forecast reported by ETtech
16% in 2026, versus 12% in 2025 Quick commerce’s share of festive spending Datum Intelligence forecast for 2026, reported by ETtech; the 2025 figure is the comparison

The dispatch said a compressed four-month festive calendar concentrates borrowing and replenishment needs, but did not specify the calendar dates. The lender figures concern disbursements; the Datum Intelligence figure concerns spending share. Neither establishes total industry borrowing or proves that every quick-commerce seller faces the same financing need.

How the two stories fit together

Groww’s story is about expanding an investment and wealth platform beyond its trading-heavy income mix. The festive-credit story is about inventory and cash-flow pressure among brands serving quick-commerce demand. The ETtech dispatch reported them together as separate business developments; it did not report Groww financing those brands.
