Grindr has agreed to acquire PurposeMed, the parent company of Freddie, an online PrEP and HIV-prevention care provider, for a base price of $250 million. The proposed deal would bring Freddie’s telehealth services into Grindr Health, but it has not yet closed: Grindr said it expected completion in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to closing conditions.
What Grindr’s proposed acquisition includes
The September 30, 2026 announcement is an agreement to acquire PurposeMed Inc., the company behind the Freddie brand—not a completed purchase. Grindr said both companies’ boards approved the transaction and that it remained subject to closing conditions. The agreement also includes PurposeMed’s partnerships with affiliated clinical networks. Grindr’s announcement and its SEC filing describe the deal.

Freddie is a telehealth provider focused on PrEP and HIV-prevention care. Grindr describes a care pathway that can include information about PrEP and coverage review, an initial assessment, consultation with a clinician, arrangements for testing, a prescription when clinically appropriate, medication delivery, refills, reminders, and contact with a care team. What the planned Grindr Health integration means for users
Grindr says it plans to add Freddie to Grindr Health so users can discover and access the telehealth pathway through the app. The company says participation will be voluntary for both Grindr users and existing Freddie patients. The announcement does not establish that the in-app integration or every listed feature is already available.
The intended model combines Grindr’s audience and app relationship with Freddie’s clinical infrastructure. CEO George Arison said he believes the resulting healthcare business could be as large as, or larger than, Grindr’s core business and just as profitable. What is known about Freddie’s reach and business outlook
Freddie was founded in Canada in 2020. Grindr’s announcement says it had helped more than 55,000 patients in Canada and the United States and served patients in all 50 U.S. states at the time of the announcement. Those scale figures are reported by Grindr. Company announcement

How to interpret Freddie’s public-health estimates
Grindr reported Freddie’s estimate that its service prevents approximately 385 new HIV transmissions each year, along with an estimated $270 million to $580 million in future annual treatment-cost savings across Canadian and U.S. healthcare systems. These are company-reported estimates, not independently verified findings in the transaction materials. They should not be read as measured results of the proposed Grindr integration.
