Gremlin has made Foresight AI generally available, and the company describes it as a way to find reliability risks in software systems, apply fixes, and rerun the test that exposed each risk to confirm the fix holds. The launch was announced on October 7, 2026, after a beta period. The headline claim that the product helps teams “break distributed systems faster” is not something the available evidence demonstrates. Gremlin’s own materials describe the workflow and the product’s scope, but no independent testing shows that teams find failures faster, or that fewer outages result.
What Foresight AI is
Foresight AI is an AI-driven layer within Gremlin’s reliability-management and chaos-engineering platform. Gremlin’s launch release, issued through PR Newswire on October 7, 2026, positions it as a product that proactively identifies reliability risks, guides or delivers remediation, validates the result, and tracks reliability over time. The release is the company’s own announcement, so every capability below is Gremlin’s description of its product rather than an independently verified technical result.
The company’s Foresight AI overview in Gremlin’s documentation places the product inside a wider set of reliability features. Those include passive risk detection, dependency discovery, resilience tests, remediation guidance, and tracking. Foresight AI is therefore best understood as the AI-assisted part of a larger platform, not a standalone tool that replaces the existing fault-injection workflow.

How the workflow is meant to run
Gremlin presents Foresight AI as a closed loop: detect, simulate, fix, and retest. The steps below reflect the sequence Gremlin describes. The exact interface labels and approval steps depend on how a team has configured its account, so check them against the current documentation before rollout.

- Detect the risk. Foresight AI looks for reliability weaknesses in services and their dependencies. Gremlin’s documentation pairs this with passive risk detection and dependency discovery.
- Reproduce the failure. The risk is exercised with a resilience test. Gremlin’s fault-injection experiments can target services, hosts, containers, and Kubernetes targets, and can be started from the web app, the REST API, or the CLI, as described in the Gremlin Docs page on fault injection experiments.
- Apply the remediation. Gremlin says the product either guides the fix or delivers it as a configuration patch or an infrastructure-as-code change. Whether a change is applied automatically or proposed for human review is the key question for any team, and the launch materials do not give a full answer to it.
- Rerun the test. The test that exposed the risk is run again. Gremlin’s position is that this confirms the fix worked, rather than assuming it did.
- Track the result. Reliability scores are reported across services and teams, so progress can be followed over time.
In the words of Kolton Andrus, CEO and founder of Gremlin, as quoted in the launch release: “Gremlin Foresight AI finds risks proactively, delivers the fix, and verifies the fix worked by rerunning the test.” This is a company statement of intent. It describes what the product is designed to do, not an outcome measured across customers.
The Failure Atlas claim
Gremlin says Foresight AI is built on its proprietary Failure Atlas, which the company describes as containing more than a decade of cause-and-effect data about how online systems fail and recover. This is the only specific figure in the launch materials, and it is Gremlin’s own description of its data resource. It has not been audited or independently verified in the sources reviewed here.

That matters for how the number is read. “More than a decade of data” tells a reader how long Gremlin has been collecting failure information. It does not indicate how many incidents the dataset contains, how accurate its recommendations are, or how often its fixes prevent later failures. Those questions remain open.

The available material supports three points. Gremlin has made Foresight AI generally available. The company describes a detect, fix, and retest workflow. And the platform’s targets and interfaces are documented. These are product facts that can be checked against Gremlin’s own pages.

Windows 11 Pro, performance-mode switching, Wake-on-LAN and auto power-on support flexible workstation use.
The available material does not support the stronger claims implied by the headline. No independent benchmark, comparative study, or published customer outcome in the sources reviewed shows that Foresight AI makes teams break systems faster, reduces incident counts, or prevents outages autonomously. The launch date is a date, not a performance measurement. Readers should treat “faster” as a marketing word until a team measures it on its own systems.

Questions to answer before a pilot
- Which of your services can be targeted safely, and what blast-radius limits can be set for each?
- Does a proposed fix go straight into a deployment pipeline, or does an engineer approve it first?
- What counts as a “fixed” result in the retest, and how often does a rerun pass for the wrong reason?
- How will you measure whether incident rates change, using your own pre-pilot baseline rather than the vendor’s scores?
Where Foresight AI fits in a reliability program
Foresight AI is most useful to teams that already run chaos experiments and want a structured way to turn findings into changes. It does not remove the need for experienced reliability engineers to review what is being changed. Teams starting from no fault-injection practice should first learn the basic experiment model in Gremlin’s documentation, then decide whether AI-generated recommendations add enough value to justify the review overhead.
Gremlin’s product overview is the starting point for the wider platform, and its documentation is the reference for current capabilities. Because product details can change after an announcement, confirm specific features, interfaces, and safeguards against the live documentation at the time of purchase or deployment.
