Greenliant’s ArmourDrive 88 Series is a family of removable NVMe M.2 SSDs for embedded and industrial systems—not a newly announced 2026 consumer drive. Greenliant’s October 2024 announcement covered sampling of high-endurance EnduroSLC EX models and upgraded industrial TLC PX models, with endurance ratings, form factors, and performance that vary by series and exact part number.
What Greenliant announced
In an announcement dated October 7, 2024, Greenliant said it was sampling EX Series EnduroSLC drives and upgraded PX Series industrial TLC drives in the ArmourDrive 88 family. The announcement described the modules as removable and thin, single-sided designs for space-constrained systems. Greenliant said they “provide the convenience of removability.” Greenliant’s announcement was published by Macnica ATD Europe on October 18, 2024.
The 88 Series is broader than those announced variants. Greenliant’s current product page describes removable PCIe/NVMe modules for embedded systems, including options with extreme-temperature support and AES-256 hardware encryption. Confirm features against the datasheet for the exact part number rather than assuming every 88 Series configuration shares them.

Greenliant’s 2024 announcement gives the EX Series EnduroSLC models ratings of 75,000 or 150,000 program/erase (P/E) cycles, and the upgraded industrial TLC PX Series a rating of 5,000 P/E cycles. These are vendor-published specifications, not independent test results or direct estimates of how long a drive will last. Actual service life depends on the workload, capacity, and operating conditions.
#1 Best Overall
- MEET THE NEXT GEN: Consider this a cheat code; Our Samsung 990 PRO Gen4 SSD helps you reach near max performance with lightning-fast speeds; Whether you’re a hardcore gamer or a tech guru, you’ll get power efficiency built for the final boss
- REACH THE NEXT LEVEL: Gen4 steps up with faster transfer speeds and high-performance bandwidth; With a more than 55% improvement in random performance compared to 980 PRO, it’s here for heavy computing and faster loading
- THE FASTEST SSD FROM THE WORLD'S FLASH MEMORY BRAND: The speed you need for any occasion; With read and write speeds up to 7450/6900 MB/s you’ll reach near max performance of PCIe 4.0 powering through for any use
- PLAY WITHOUT LIMITS: Give yourself some space with storage capacities from 1TB to 4TB; Sync all your saves and reign supreme in gaming, video editing, data analysis and more
- IT’S A POWER MOVE: Save the power for your performance; Get power efficiency all while experiencing up to 50% improved performance per watt over the 980 PRO; It makes every move more effective with less consumption
EX and PX are not interchangeable labels for the same endurance profile: they use different NAND approaches and have substantially different stated P/E ratings. Choose based on the host’s expected write workload and the specification for the specific capacity and part number, not on the cycle figure alone.
Form factors, interfaces, and capacities
The announcement identifies two module families. A 2242 module measures 22 × 42 mm; a 2280 measures 22 × 80 mm. Their interface and capacity ranges differ:
Rank #2
- Ideal for high speed, low power storage
- Gen 4x4 NVMe PCle performance
- Up to 6,000MB/s read, 4,000MB/s write
- Includes Acronis cloning software
- 5-year limited warranty
| Family | Size | Interface | EX capacity range | PX capacity range |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GLS88CS | M.2 2242 (22 × 42 mm) | PCIe Gen3x2 | 20GB to 320GB | 60GB to 960GB |
| GLS88AS | M.2 2280 (22 × 80 mm) | PCIe Gen3x4 | 40GB to 640GB | 120GB to 1.92TB |
These are ranges Greenliant listed in its 2024 announcement, not a guarantee that every capacity is currently available. The announcement does not establish a current inventory or production status.

Performance, power, temperature, and security
Greenliant stated sequential performance of up to 2,390 MB/s read and 1,780 MB/s write across the announced products, and active power as low as 1,330 mW. These are vendor-stated limits; they do not mean every capacity reaches the maximum speed or minimum power draw.

- This product has been replaced by our latest generation. Please search for the SANDISK Optimus GX 7100 NVMe SSD
- HIGH-OCTANE GAMING. Experience speeds up to 7,250MB/s read and 6,900MB/s write (1-2TB models), with up to 35% faster performance than previous generation.
- PURPOSE-BUILT. Designed for serious on-the-go gamers, with a PCIe Gen4 interface and SANDISK’s next generation TLC 3D NAND.
- MORE TIME TO CLEAR THAT CHECKPOINT. Built with laptops and handheld gaming devices in mind, with up to 100% more power efficiency over the previous generation.
- DO MORE WITH DASHBOARD. Ensure your drive is optimized for prime performance with the downloadable WD_BLACK Dashboard (Windows only).
The stated operating range is -40°C to +95°C, with Tc referring to case-surface temperature. Treat this as Greenliant’s published specification for the announced drives, not a claim that every configuration maintains the same behavior at every temperature.
For the GLS88AS and GLS88CS families, Greenliant named AES-256 hardware encryption, Crypto Erase, Secure Erase, hardware write protection, and debug ports. The announcement positioned the drives for aerospace and defense, industrial, transportation, and networking uses; it does not establish independent certification for those sectors.

How to check compatibility before choosing a module
An M.2 module fitting the slot is not enough to establish compatibility. Check the host and exact SSD part number together:
- Confirm the supported M.2 length and mounting position: 2242 is 22 × 42 mm, while 2280 is 22 × 80 mm.
- Verify the host supports PCIe and NVMe, and confirm its PCIe lane support. The announced GLS88CS uses Gen3x2; GLS88AS uses Gen3x4.
- Check the slot keying and connector requirements in the host documentation and the SSD datasheet. Physical size alone does not establish electrical compatibility.
- Confirm board clearance for the module’s single- or double-sided construction, then check the exact SKU’s capacity, endurance, temperature grade, and encryption option.
- Compare the chosen drive’s expected workload and required security features with the specifications for that part number. Use the latest Greenliant datasheet for final engineering decisions.
Availability and pricing
The October 2024 announcement said EX and upgraded PX models were sampling and directed availability and pricing inquiries to Macnica ATD Europe. It does not establish current mass-production status, distributor stock, warranty terms, or retail pricing. Check with Greenliant or the named distributor for current status before planning a purchase.
