Govee announced a nationwide U.S. Halloween campaign on October 3, 2026, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar and built around a simple decorating idea: make one exterior feature the star, then use coordinated lighting to give the rest of the scene atmosphere.
What Govee’s Halloween campaign includes
In its October 3, 2026 announcement, Govee introduced “Turn Up the Spooky. Slay Halloween,” a U.S. campaign featuring Gellar in a television commercial. The spot shows Govee outdoor lights transforming an everyday home into a more cinematic Halloween setting, emphasizing color, atmosphere and drama after dark rather than a single decoration.

How to make an exterior look spooky without lighting everything
Gellar’s decorating advice is to choose one architectural or landscape feature as the focus—a roofline, tree or front facade—and leave some surrounding areas dark. That contrast can make the lit feature feel more dramatic than covering every exterior surface in light.
For a layered setup, start with that focal point, then add light where it serves a separate purpose: for example, color on a porch or tree, and illumination at an entrance or along a path. This follows the campaign’s mix of architectural, gathering-area and walkway lighting without treating every surface as a target.

Example prompts include “moonlit and mysterious,” “classic and dramatic” and “playful and family friendly.”

What the campaign’s market-leadership claim means
Govee describes itself as the No. 1 brand for household permanent outdoor lights in the U.S. The announcement attributes that ranking to Euromonitor International Co., Ltd., based on sales value across U.S. retail channels in 2025; the defined category is fixtures designed for fixed, year-round installation on household exteriors such as eaves, facades and decks, and the research was completed in June 2026. The announcement does not provide the underlying sales figures. This is a claim about that specific category and market, not a ranking across all smart lighting.
