A September 30 report described prominent Googlebook displays at one unnamed Best Buy, four days before the retailer’s listed October 4, 2026 U.S. launch. The account documents one store visit—not a chain-wide rollout or an “unprecedented” campaign—and gives no figures for campaign reach, spending, or sales impact.
What the Best Buy display looked like
Chrome Unboxed author Robby Payne reported seeing Googlebook branding at a local Best Buy on September 30, 2026. The display included sleeves around exterior security posts, a window cling, display cubes, and floor displays. Signage read “Introducing Googlebook: Designed for Gemini Intelligence” and “Syncs effortlessly with your phone.” Chrome Unboxed’s report describes a single, unnamed store; it does not establish how many locations received similar displays.
What Googlebook is being marketed as
Best Buy describes Googlebook as a laptop experience developed with multiple PC manufacturers and promotes Gemini features and Android-device connectivity. Its U.S. Googlebook listings included models from HP, Lenovo, Dell, and Acer when checked October 3, 2026. Best Buy Canada’s September 21 announcement also named ASUS among participating manufacturers and highlighted Google Play access and Android integration. These are retailer descriptions, not independent tests of the features or of the laptops’ performance.

Launch timing, prices, and advertised offers
Best Buy’s U.S. page listed October 4, 2026 as the release date and an $899 starting price when checked October 3. Dell separately announced its XPS Googlebook with a starting price of $999 in September 2026. Those are different scopes—Best Buy’s listed starting price across its Googlebook offerings and Dell’s price for one model—not a like-for-like comparison. Prices, availability, and launch details can change.
Promotions also vary by retailer, model, eligibility, and redemption terms. Best Buy Canada’s September 21 announcement advertised Pixel Buds 2A for eligible preorders, subject to limited quantities and terms. Best Buy’s U.S. offer page, checked October 3, listed 12 months of Google AI Pro, three months of YouTube Premium, one year of GeForce NOW, and limited trials of several creative apps. Check the current U.S. offer details and Canadian announcement for applicable models, dates, and conditions; an advertised benefit should not be assumed to apply to every purchase.

What the report does—and does not—show
The timing and scale are the key distinction. Payne’s September 30 observation came four days before Best Buy’s listed October 4 U.S. launch, and the physical branding he described sounds prominent within that store. But the account does not say whether the treatment was used at selected locations or across the chain. The cited materials provide no independent statistic for campaign reach, retail spending, sales, or impact, so “taking over” and “unprecedented” are not established descriptions of the campaign.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsBest Buy’s U.S. page also placed Logitech mice and a keyboard in a Googlebook accessories section. That placement alone does not establish device-specific compatibility or make those products tested recommendations. The available sources likewise do not provide consistent specifications or comparative testing sufficient to recommend one Googlebook model over another.
