The Google Pixel Watch 5 is a strong Android smartwatch on paper, with two case sizes, optional LTE, a bright display and Google-rated battery life of up to 30 hours for the 41mm model or 40 hours for the 45mm model with always-on display. Whether it is worth buying depends chiefly on which size fits you, whether you need phone-free connectivity, and whether its price and wellness features suit your needs.
What is the Pixel Watch 5?
Google announced Pixel Watch 5 on August 12, 2026, and began general availability on August 20. Google lists an aluminum case in 41mm or 45mm, an Actua 360 AMOLED LTPO display with peak brightness up to 3,000 nits, Wear OS 7.0, a Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 processor, 64 GB of storage, dual-frequency GPS, and 5 ATM and IP68 ratings. Which size should you choose?
The 45mm model has a larger case and a higher listed battery capacity; the smaller 41mm model may be a better fit for narrower wrists. Google lists different wrist ranges for its bands, so check the band’s fit guidance as well as the case diameter. Google’s technical specifications

Should you get LTE or Bluetooth/Wi-Fi?
Bluetooth/Wi-Fi is the simpler choice if you usually have your phone nearby or can connect the watch to Wi-Fi. LTE can keep the watch connected when your phone is away, but requires carrier activation. Check that your carrier supports the watch and review its ongoing service terms before choosing LTE. Google lists a 45mm Stephen Curry Special Edition for $579.99 in its US store as of October 7, 2026. The edition is offered as a distinct 45mm configuration; Google’s store listing should be checked for the included case and band choices. Google estimates up to 30 hours for the 41mm and up to 40 hours for the 45mm with always-on display enabled. Battery Saver ratings rise to up to 48 and 72 hours, respectively. These are maximum estimates, not a promise of everyday runtime: actual life varies with use and settings. If you expect to use LTE, GPS, or other power-intensive features frequently, allow for less than the stated maximum rather than treating the rating as a guaranteed interval. What health features does it offer, and what are their limits?
Google describes Health Guardian features including blood-pressure trends, insulin-resistance trends and sleep-breathing features. Availability varies by region, country and device, and some functions require the Google Health mobile app and/or a Google Health Premium membership. Is the Pixel Watch 5 worth it?
It is most compelling for someone with a compatible Android phone who wants a Google smartwatch and can choose a size that fits. The larger model’s higher Google-rated runtime may matter if you want more time between charges, while LTE is useful only if you need connectivity away from your phone and are comfortable checking carrier activation and service costs. Compare the live price with your budget, and do not treat wellness features as a reason to rely on the watch for medical decisions.
