If a Google Merchant Center video is stuck on “preview processing,” first identify which video workflow you’re using. Product Studio’s generated preview and a product video submitted with the video_link attribute are separate processes, so their wait times and checks differ. Google says a Product Studio preview may take a few minutes; its documentation does not give a universal fix or recovery time for a preview that remains stuck beyond that.
First, identify which video is processing
| Workflow | What it does | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Product Studio preview | Generates a preview video inside Merchant Center. | Allow a few minutes, then check whether the preview can be played, downloaded, saved, or regenerated. |
Product video submitted with video_link |
Supplies a video URL as product data for Google to crawl and validate. | Check the URL, video format, crawl timing, and product diagnostics. |
Google’s Product Studio video instructions describe preview generation. Its separate video_link documentation covers videos submitted as product data. A delay in one workflow does not by itself explain a delay in the other.
If the Product Studio preview is stuck
- Wait a few minutes. Google Merchant Center Help says generating a Product Studio preview “may take a few minutes.” This is a general expectation, not a guaranteed maximum processing time.
- Check the available preview actions. See whether the video can be played, downloaded, saved, or regenerated in Product Studio.
- If it remains stuck, use the issue details or contact Google support. Google’s published guidance does not identify a confirmed cause or dedicated fix for a preview that stays in processing. Avoid assuming the cause is your browser, cache, video length, account, or a service outage without account-specific evidence.
If the video was submitted through product data
Validate the video URL and file
The optional video_link attribute must point to the specific product video, not a general brand video. Google requires an HTTP or HTTPS URL and a supported video format that follows its formatting rules. Review the full requirements in Google’s video_link guidance. The attribute itself does not affect offer approval.
Use a new URL when replacing the video
When the video changes, publish the new video at a unique URL if possible and update the product data to use it. Google says a new, unique URL typically prompts a recrawl within 24–72 hours. If you replace the file contents but keep the same URL, Google may take up to six weeks to detect the change and recrawl it. That timing is not an immediate-refresh guarantee.

Check both Merchant Center diagnostics surfaces
- Open the data source processing report. Use it to look for basic upload, file, and attribute problems affecting the submitted data. Follow the steps in Google’s data source troubleshooting guidance.
- Open Products > Needs attention. Review the affected product’s details for product-level issues that the data source report may not cover. Google says the report does not show every product issue.
- Read the specific message before changing the feed. Distinguish a video crawl, formatting, policy, or quality issue from an offer-approval issue. A video problem does not automatically mean the product offer itself is disapproved.
Understand the 2026 video checks
Google’s 2026 product data specification update sets separate milestones for videos submitted through video_link. Technical validation errors are scheduled to begin appearing on April 14, 2026. Policy and quality validation, and video serving eligibility, are scheduled to begin on June 30, 2026. These are video checks: Google says policy or quality errors can prevent the video from serving without preventing the associated offer from serving. See the 2026 product data specification update for Google’s update details.

What to do if it still does not resolve
- For a Product Studio preview, note how long it has been processing and use the relevant Merchant Center issue details or Google support; the published help does not establish a universal stuck-preview recovery time.
- For a feed-submitted video, verify the product-specific URL and supported format, then check both the data source report and Products > Needs attention.
- If you changed the video, confirm whether you submitted a new URL or retained the old one. The expected crawl timing differs substantially.
