Google’s current Indexing API allowance is 200 publish requests per Google Cloud project per day. The count includes both URL_UPDATED and URL_DELETED notifications. Separate limits allow 180 metadata requests per minute per project and 380 requests per minute across all Indexing API endpoints. These limits control notifications and status lookups; they do not guarantee that Google will index, update, or remove a URL.
Current Google Indexing API quotas
The quotas are applied at the Google Cloud project level, not per URL. The daily publish allowance resets at midnight Pacific Time. If Google changes a quota after you request an adjustment, the new value can take up to 24 hours to become effective.
| Limit | Scope | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| 200 requests per day | Per project | URL_UPDATED and URL_DELETED publish notifications combined |
| 180 requests per minute | Per project | Metadata requests to the Indexing API |
| 380 requests per minute | Per project | Requests across all Indexing API endpoints |
Google does not charge for Indexing API use. The daily figure is a request allowance, not a number of guaranteed indexing operations: one notification can be accepted without producing an indexed result.
What the Indexing API is—and what it is not
Google documents this API for pages containing JobPosting structured data or a BroadcastEvent embedded in a VideoObject. Ordinary news, blog, product, category, and other editorial pages are outside the documented eligibility. Sending notifications for unsupported page types does not turn those pages into eligible content and can create compliance and quota problems.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The service is a notification channel. You tell Google that an eligible URL changed or should be removed; Google then decides whether and when to recrawl it. The API is not a command that forces indexing, and its metadata response is not an index-status report.
What a successful HTTP 200 response means
A successful 200 response means Google received the notification and may try to recrawl the URL soon. It does not confirm that the URL was indexed, that new content appears in search, or that a deleted URL has been removed from results.

The metadata endpoint records when Google received notifications. It does not report the final indexing decision. To investigate visibility, use Google’s normal search diagnostics and indexing reports rather than treating the API response as proof of inclusion.
Endpoints and request types
Publish a URL notification
Use the REST service indexing.googleapis.com/v3/urlNotifications and send a POST request to /v3/urlNotifications:publish. The notification type must be either URL_UPDATED or URL_DELETED, and each publish body contains one URL.

POST https://indexing.googleapis.com/v3/urlNotifications:publish
Content-Type: application/json
{
"url": "https://example.com/eligible-page",
"type": "URL_UPDATED"
}
Batch requests can combine up to 100 calls. Batching does not increase the 200-per-day project allowance; every publish call still counts against the applicable quota.
Read notification metadata
Send a GET request to /v3/urlNotifications/metadata to retrieve the latest notification metadata for a URL. These lookups are subject to the separate 180-per-minute metadata limit and the 380-per-minute all-endpoint limit.

Requirements before sending requests
- Enable the API. Turn on the Indexing API in a Google Cloud project.
- Create authentication. Create a service account and obtain an access token for API calls.
- Verify ownership. Verify the relevant site in Google Search Console.
- Request approval and quota. Google requires approval and quota arrangements for use beyond onboarding or testing defaults.
- Validate eligibility. Restrict notifications to pages with the documented
JobPostingorBroadcastEvent-in-VideoObjectcontent. - Send valid JSON. Set
Content-Type: application/json, use the required endpoint, and include one URL and one supported notification type per publish call.
Store credentials securely, refresh access tokens as required by your authentication flow, and log response codes and notification timestamps so you can distinguish an accepted request from a later indexing outcome.
Indexing API versus other submission methods
| Method | Eligible content | Workflow | Quota scope and authentication | What the response proves |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Indexing API | Documented for JobPosting and BroadcastEvent in VideoObject |
Push a change or deletion notification | 200 publish requests per day per Cloud project, plus per-minute project limits; Cloud project, service account, access token, and ownership verification required | Google received the notification; no indexing guarantee |
| Sitemap submission | Site URLs described by the sitemap | Provide a sitemap for Google to discover and recrawl | Does not use the Indexing API project quota; authentication and limits depend on the submission method | Submission or discovery is not a guarantee of indexing |
| Search Console URL Inspection API | URLs on a verified site | Pull inspection data for a URL | Separate limits: 2,000 requests per day and 600 per minute per site; project limits are 10,000,000 per day and 15,000 per minute. Google lists these limits on a page last updated August 28, 2025 UTC. | Inspection information, not a command that guarantees indexing |
These methods serve different jobs. Use the Indexing API only for its documented content types and event notifications, sitemaps for broad URL discovery, and URL Inspection data when you need diagnostics. None of the three is an indexing guarantee.

Quota planning and common failure points
Mixing updates and deletions
The 200 daily requests are shared. A site that sends 150 update notifications has only 50 requests left for deletions that day.
Confusing project and site limits
Indexing API limits are measured per Google Cloud project. Search Console URL Inspection limits use separate per-site and per-project counters, so increasing or exhausting one does not change the other.
Trying to bypass the limit
Google warns against bypassing quotas with multiple accounts. Abuse can result in access being revoked. Queue eligible events, deduplicate repeated changes, and spread metadata lookups to remain below the per-minute ceilings instead of creating extra identities or projects.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsAssuming acceptance equals visibility
Record the notification and then evaluate the URL through Search Console and search results. A 200 only establishes receipt; a missing or delayed result can reflect recrawl timing, eligibility, technical quality, or Google’s independent indexing decision.
Quick Recap
Practical operating checklist
- Confirm the page has one of the two documented eligible content patterns.
- Use the correct Cloud project and keep its daily counter visible.
- Count
URL_UPDATEDandURL_DELETEDtogether. - Throttle metadata calls below 180 per minute and total calls below 380 per minute per project.
- Send JSON with the correct content type and a single URL in each publish body.
- Expect the daily reset at midnight Pacific Time.
- Allow up to 24 hours for an approved quota change to take effect.
- Never present a successful response to stakeholders as proof of indexing or removal.
