To turn off the Google feed in the Google app, open Google > profile picture or initial > Settings > General, then switch Discover off. Google calls this feed Discover. If it still appears when you swipe on your home screen, check your launcher’s Home settings; that panel is controlled differently on some Android devices.
Turn off Discover in the Google app
- Open the Google app.
- Tap your profile picture or initial in the top-right corner.
- Tap Settings, then General.
- Switch Discover off.
These are Google’s documented steps for disabling Discover in the app. Google Search Help: Turn off Discover on Android
Hide Discover on google.com in a mobile browser
If you want to hide the feed on Google’s mobile website as well, use its separate browser setting:

If the feed still appears when you swipe on the home screen
The swipe-accessed panel may be controlled by your phone’s home-screen launcher rather than the Google app’s Discover setting. Google says Discover can appear on some devices by swiping from the home screen, but the direction and behavior are not universal. Google: Find and manage Discover
- Touch and hold an empty area of the home screen.
- Tap Home settings.
- Look for a home-screen panel or Google-app feed control and turn it off if your launcher provides one.
The setting’s name and availability vary by device. Android’s instructions explain how to open Home settings, but do not establish one toggle that applies to every launcher. Android Help: Add apps, shortcuts and widgets to your Home screens

- Google News: The Google News app has a separate Following feed and controls for following or unfollowing interests, requesting fewer similar stories, and hiding a source. Those controls change Google News content and are not the Discover switch. Google News Help: Customize your news
Changing Discover personalization or topics also differs from turning the feature off. Google describes separate controls for activity and recommendations, and notes that settings are being updated, so labels may change. Google: Find and manage Discover
