To print a Google Doc in landscape on a computer, open File > Page setup, make sure the document uses Pages rather than Pageless, choose Landscape, and click OK. Then use File > Print. Google Docs may download a PDF; open it in a PDF viewer and print it there.
Set the whole Google Doc to landscape on a computer
- Open the document in Google Docs.
- Choose File > Page setup.
- If the format is set to Pageless, select Pages at the top of the dialog. Orientation settings require Pages format. Google Docs Editors Help explains the page setup options.
- Under Orientation, select Landscape.
- Click OK, then check the document in print layout to confirm the page arrangement.
- Choose File > Print, review the print settings, and click Print. If Docs downloads a PDF instead, open that file in a PDF viewer and print it. Google’s computer printing instructions describe this flow.
Make only one section or selected content landscape
You can keep most pages in portrait and rotate a section containing a wide table, chart, or graphic. Google Docs supports mixed page orientations within a document.
- Select the content you want in landscape and use the page-orientation command from the right-click context menu, or insert a section break at the intended boundaries.
- With the relevant section active, open File > Page setup or Format > Page orientation.
- Choose Landscape and apply it to This section or This section forward, depending on which pages should rotate. Choose Whole document only if every section should be landscape.

Change orientation in the mobile app
Android
- Open the document and enter edit mode.
- Tap More > Page setup > Orientation, then choose Landscape.
- Use Print layout to preview the pages. See Google’s Android page setup instructions.
iPhone or iPad
- Open the document and tap More > Page setup > Orientation.
- Choose Landscape and preview the page layout.
- To print, tap More > Share & export > Print, then follow the device’s print flow. The available printer options depend on the device. See Google’s instructions for page setup on iPhone and iPad and printing on iPhone and iPad.
Why Page setup or Orientation may be missing
The most common reason is that the document is Pageless. Pageless is a continuous-scrolling layout without page breaks, so it does not offer the same page-based controls for orientation, margins, headers, or footers. On a computer, switch to Pages through File > Page setup, then choose Landscape. Google outlines the distinction in its Pages and Pageless help.

Pageless documents can also print differently from their on-screen view: Google notes that images adjust to page width and wide tables are squeezed to fit in print preview. Switch to Pages if you need control over page orientation and print layout; see Google’s printing guidance.
