To stop Google Calendar RSVP emails, either disable Get an email when guests respond on one event or set Event responses to None in a selected calendar’s settings. Use the event control for one event or its full recurring series; use the calendar control for response emails associated with that calendar.
Choose the right setting
Google Calendar has two controls with different scopes. The calendar-level option changes response notification emails for a selected calendar. The event-level checkbox changes notifications for an individual event or, for a recurring event, the full series. The event-level option also suppresses automatic email replies, such as out-of-office messages.
| Control | Scope | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Calendar setting: Event responses → None | The selected calendar | Turns off event response notification emails for that calendar. |
| Event setting: clear Get an email when guests respond | One event or its full recurring series | Stops RSVP emails and automatic replies; third-party calendar RSVP statuses are no longer available to check. |
These instructions concern the organizer’s emails when guests respond. They do not change what happens when you RSVP as an invitee; Google says organizers get a notification when someone responds to an invitation (Google Calendar Help).

Turn off RSVP emails for one event or series
- Open Google Calendar on a computer and create an event or open an event you organize for editing.
- Clear Get an email when guests respond.
- Save the event. If it is recurring, this setting applies to the full series; it cannot be applied to only one occurrence.
The checkbox is checked by default. With it cleared, the organizer will not receive RSVP emails from Google Calendar guests, third-party calendar users such as Outlook users, or automatic replies such as out-of-office messages. Google Calendar users’ accept, decline, and tentative responses can still appear in the event guest list. However, you cannot check RSVP status for guests using other calendar services when this option is off. That visibility tradeoff is worth considering if you rely on responses from people using other calendars.

Turn off response emails for a calendar
- On a computer, open Google Calendar and select Settings.
- Under Settings for my calendars, select the calendar you want to change.
- Scroll to Other notifications.
- Beside Event responses, open the menu and choose None.
This changes response notification emails for the selected calendar, rather than changing a checkbox on just one event. Google’s instructions for both controls are in Track responses to your event.
