Choose Google Antigravity if you want an agent-first workspace that delegates work across an editor, terminal, and browser, with plans, diffs, diagrams, and recordings collected as task artifacts. Choose Cursor if you want an AI editor whose Agent sits inside an established coding loop, searches and edits your repository, runs commands, uses web and browser tools, and lets you restore checkpoints. Neither product has a cited independent benchmark proving better code, speed, or reliability. The practical choice is the workflow you want to operate every day, the editor and operating system you already use, and the account limits and governance your team can accept.
This comparison uses the vendors’ current documentation and treats capabilities as documented features, not as hands-on test results. Verify plan quotas, model availability, browser access, and enterprise terms for your account before committing.
At a glance: the workflow fit
| Question | Google Antigravity | Cursor |
|---|---|---|
| What is the central idea? | An agentic development environment in which local agents work across the editor, terminal, and browser. | An AI coding editor with an Agent that searches, plans, edits, runs commands, and can use web and browser tools. |
| How can work run? | Google documents asynchronous agents and parallel subagents operating across workspaces. | Cursor documents an Agent session for multi-step work, plus project-coordination features for larger efforts. |
| What do you review? | Task-level artifacts such as Markdown plans, code diffs, architecture diagrams, images, and browser recordings. | Agent changes can be protected by local checkpoints that restore code snapshots. |
| Can you keep another editor? | Extensions are listed for VS Code, Visual Studio 2026, JetBrains products, Zed, and Xcode, with platform and preview qualifications. | Cursor is itself the editor. The cited documentation does not provide a directly comparable matrix for using its Agent inside every other editor. |
| What is known about price? | The individual plan is listed at $0 per month with basic weekly rate limits, unlimited Tab completions, and unlimited Command requests. Higher Google AI tiers advertise higher limits and flexible credit pools. | The current pricing page mixes Cursor material with X/Grok benefits and says prices can change. It is not a clean basis for quoting a Cursor-only subscription price. |
| What about enterprise use? | Google states that the standalone IDE is not supported for enterprise customers and points enterprise users to Antigravity 2.0 or the CLI. | Cursor documents team and enterprise offerings, but the cited pages do not establish a detailed, directly comparable privacy or governance guarantee. |
Feature descriptions are from Google’s Antigravity IDE overview, Antigravity extension documentation, Cursor’s Agent overview, and Cursor’s documentation.

What Google Antigravity is designed to do
Google describes Antigravity as an agentic development environment rather than merely an autocomplete panel. Agents receive tools that operate in the editor, terminal, and browser, so a delegated task can span code changes, command-line work, and interaction with a running web application. The overview also describes asynchronous local agents that can work in parallel across workspaces.

The useful distinction is the unit of work. Instead of treating every prompt as a chat answer, Antigravity presents a task and its deliverables. Google lists Markdown plans, code diffs, architecture diagrams, images, and browser recordings as examples of artifacts. That gives a team something concrete to inspect after an agent has worked, especially when a task includes both implementation and UI verification.
The browser agent is described as able to actuate a browser for development jobs such as reading dashboards, performing source-control actions, and testing a user interface. Browser control does not mean every site or account will be available: permissions, authentication, plan eligibility, and the operating environment still matter.
Antigravity’s individual pricing page lists a $0-per-month plan with access to agent models, unlimited Tab completions, unlimited Command requests, and basic weekly rate limits. Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra are described as adding higher limits and flexible AI credit pools. Limits and eligibility can change by geography and account, so read the current details at Google’s Antigravity pricing page immediately before subscribing.

Cursor’s documentation describes Agent as an assistant that can complete complex coding tasks independently, run terminal commands, and edit code. In the vendor’s words: “Agent is Cursor’s assistant that can complete complex coding tasks independently, run terminal commands, and edit code.” That is Cursor’s product description, not an independent performance finding.
The documented tool set includes codebase search, web search, reading and editing files, terminal execution, and browser control. Cursor says browser use can capture screenshots, test an application, and check visual changes. In practice, this makes a single Agent session capable of moving from repository discovery to implementation and then to a visual check of the running result, subject to your setup and account access.
Cursor also documents instructions and rules that shape an Agent’s behavior, a selected model, and local checkpoints. Checkpoints save codebase snapshots before significant changes and can be restored if a session takes an unwanted direction. A checkpoint is a rollback mechanism for code changes; it is not a substitute for commits, branches, backups, or review of generated commands.

The documentation home presents Cursor as a coding agent for understanding a codebase, planning and building features, fixing bugs, reviewing changes, and working with existing tools. It lists integrations such as GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps, Bitbucket, JetBrains, Slack, and Linear, and shows models from several providers. Integrations and model rosters are volatile and can vary by plan; confirm what your account actually exposes at Cursor’s documentation.

Agent autonomy: command center or integrated coding loop?
Choose Antigravity’s model when delegation is the organizing principle
Antigravity’s strongest documented emphasis is orchestration. Asynchronous local agents and parallel subagents let you divide work across tasks or workspaces instead of waiting for one conversational thread to finish. Artifacts make the output of those tasks legible: a plan, diff, diagram, image, or browser recording can be reviewed as a deliverable.
This suits a workflow in which you first describe a goal, allow agents to investigate or implement in parallel, and then inspect the resulting evidence. It is particularly attractive when a feature requires both repository changes and browser-based validation and you want those activities represented together.
Choose Cursor’s model when the editor remains your command center
Cursor puts the Agent inside an AI editor. You can ask it to search the repository, edit files, run a command, consult the web, or control a browser without leaving that coding environment. Rules and model selection let you shape a session, while checkpoints provide a local restore point before substantial changes.
This suits developers who want to stay close to the files and terminal, approve or redirect steps as they happen, and use an existing set of development integrations. Cursor’s documentation also describes project coordination for larger work, but the cited material does not establish that it provides the same artifact-oriented presentation or parallel-agent behavior as Antigravity.
Do not turn the distinction into a capability winner
Both products document agent-led, multi-step coding. Antigravity emphasizes asynchronous, parallel task execution and structured artifacts; Cursor emphasizes an integrated Agent with repository, terminal, web, and browser tools plus checkpoints. Those are different control surfaces, not proof that one product can perform a class of work the other cannot.

Review, rollback, and visibility
Antigravity: inspect task artifacts
For Antigravity, ask what evidence you want after delegation. A Markdown plan can expose the intended approach before implementation. A code diff shows the exact edits. An architecture diagram can communicate structure to reviewers, while an image or browser recording can document visual behavior. These artifacts are useful when several agents work at once because they give reviewers a common record of each task.
Review still belongs to the developer. A polished artifact does not establish that tests passed, a security boundary is correct, or a production system is safe to change. Use the diff and recordings as review inputs, then run the repository’s normal checks and inspect sensitive operations yourself.
Cursor: restore checkpoints and review the diff
Cursor’s documented checkpoint feature saves codebase snapshots before significant Agent changes. If a session heads in the wrong direction, restoring a checkpoint can return the working tree to an earlier state. Treat that as a convenience for experimentation, not as version control: keep commits, branches, pull requests, and backups for durable recovery and collaboration.
Recommended Free Tools
The practical question is where your team expects evidence to live. If reviewers prefer a task package containing plans and browser recordings, Antigravity’s documented artifacts map naturally to that process. If they prefer an editor session with a recoverable working state and a conventional diff, Cursor’s checkpoints may fit better.
Existing editor and operating-system requirements
Google lists Antigravity extensions for VS Code, Visual Studio 2026, JetBrains products, Zed, and Xcode. The VS Code extension is listed for macOS, Linux, and Windows. Visual Studio support is described as an official VSIX for Visual Studio 2026 and .NET solution architectures. JetBrains, Zed, and Xcode have their own support and enterprise-preview qualifications.
These labels do not guarantee identical features across editors. Before standardizing on an extension, verify the exact IDE version, operating system, authentication method, browser access, and whether the feature is generally available or preview-only. The current qualification details are in Antigravity’s extension documentation.

Cursor presents itself as an AI editor rather than an add-on to every editor you already own. Its documentation lists integrations with development services and tools, but the cited pages do not provide a directly comparable matrix showing that its Agent runs inside each third-party editor. If switching editors would disrupt your keybindings, plugins, debugging setup, or team conventions, treat that migration cost as part of the decision.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsCompatibility checklist
- Confirm your operating system and exact editor version are listed, not merely the editor family.
- Check whether browser control and screenshots are available on your plan and platform.
- Verify that your authentication method is allowed for personal or organization use.
- Test repository indexing, terminal permissions, language tooling, and debugging before moving a large project.
- Record which features are preview status so a team does not mistake a temporary surface for a supported commitment.
Plans, quotas, and model access
Antigravity’s published individual tiers
| Tier or option | Published description | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Individual | $0 per month; agent-model access, unlimited Tab completions, unlimited Command requests, and basic weekly rate limits. | Weekly allowance, reset timing, geography, eligible models, and whether browser actions consume a separate quota. |
| Google AI Pro | Higher rate limits and a flexible AI credit pool. | Current credit amount, model access, renewal rules, and regional availability. |
| Google AI Ultra | Still higher limits and a flexible AI credit pool. | Current limits, price, geography, and which Antigravity features the subscription covers. |
| Google Cloud organization options | Eligible Gemini Enterprise subscriptions are described as starting at $30 USD per seat per month; pay-as-you-go is described with a $0 seat fee plus consumption-based pricing. | Eligibility, currency, contractual terms, consumption rates, and whether the standalone IDE is supported for your organization. |
These are descriptions on Antigravity’s pricing page, not a promise that quotas remain unchanged. A free plan can be adequate for occasional coding, but basic weekly limits may become the binding constraint for long-running agents, large repositories, or frequent browser verification.
Cursor’s pricing requires a cleaner check
The current official page at cursor.com/pricing contains mixed Cursor and X/Grok plan names and benefits, including unrelated social-platform features. It also says prices can change and that third-party model usage may be billed separately. Because the page is not a clean Cursor-only comparison, do not use a displayed dollar figure from it as Cursor’s subscription price.
For Cursor, compare the plan and usage information shown for your account, then confirm which models, agent calls, browser operations, and third-party model charges are included. The model list in Cursor’s documentation can change, so a model shown in general documentation is not necessarily available under every plan.
Compare consumption, not headline price
- Estimate how many agent sessions you run in a week and how often they revisit a large repository.
- Separate lightweight completion use from expensive multi-step tasks that invoke terminal, web, or browser tools.
- Check whether limits reset weekly, monthly, or through a credit pool.
- Decide whether your team needs a predictable subscription or can manage consumption-based charges.
- Recheck the pages immediately before purchase; both quota and model information are time-sensitive.
Enterprise, privacy, and governance
Google’s standalone-product limitation is explicit: “Antigravity IDE is not supported for enterprise customers.” The same documentation directs enterprise users toward Antigravity 2.0 or Antigravity CLI. Do not interpret an individual extension login as enterprise approval.

Cursor’s documentation and pricing pages describe team and enterprise products, but the cited material does not establish a detailed privacy comparison with Google’s controls. Ask Cursor for the current contractual and technical terms that apply to your deployment rather than inferring equivalent guarantees from the existence of an enterprise plan.
Questions to answer before sending proprietary code or prompts
- Which product surface is approved: a standalone IDE, an extension, a CLI, or a managed organization product?
- Which identity provider, roles, and administrator controls are required?
- Are prompts, repository content, terminal output, browser screenshots, and recordings retained, and for how long?
- Can network access, model selection, or browser actions be restricted?
- What happens when a developer uses a personal account on a company repository?
How to choose by workflow
| Your working style | Better starting point | Why | Check first |
|---|---|---|---|
| You divide a feature into independent tasks and want agents working in parallel. | Antigravity | Its overview explicitly describes asynchronous local agents, parallel subagents, and task artifacts. | Workspace limits, agent quotas, and how your team reviews artifacts. |
| You want to stay in an AI editor while an Agent searches, edits, runs commands, and checks a browser. | Cursor | Its Agent is documented around that integrated loop, with rules and checkpoints. | Editor migration cost, model access, browser availability, and usage billing. |
| You already standardize on VS Code, Visual Studio 2026, JetBrains, Zed, or Xcode. | Start with Antigravity’s extension qualification. | Google publishes an extension list for those environments. | Your exact version, operating system, and preview status. |
| You need a free individual entry point and can tolerate weekly limits. | Antigravity’s individual plan | Google lists $0 per month with basic weekly limits and unlimited Tab and Command requests. | Current limits, model eligibility, and geography. |
| You need enterprise deployment and centralized controls. | Use an approved organizational product, not an assumption. | Standalone Antigravity IDE is explicitly not supported for enterprise; Cursor’s cited pages do not provide enough detail for a direct governance verdict. | Obtain current terms from your administrator and the vendor. |
| You are choosing based on which writes better or faster code. | Neither, without a controlled test. | No cited independent head-to-head benchmark establishes a winner. | Run the same task, repository, model settings, and verification procedure in both products. |
A fair side-by-side trial you can run
If workflow fit is still unclear, run a short evaluation rather than relying on feature lists. Keep the conditions identical and record the process.
- Select a representative repository. Use a project with the language, build system, tests, and browser UI your team actually maintains. Remove secrets and use a disposable branch or clone.
- Define one bounded task. Write acceptance criteria before opening either tool. Include functional behavior, tests, documentation, and any UI requirement.
- Fix the model and instructions. Use comparable model access, repository rules, temperature or reasoning settings where exposed, and the same prompt. Record any setting that cannot be matched.
- Allow the documented tools you expect. Decide whether both trials may use terminal commands, web search, browser control, and parallel work. If a capability is unavailable in one account, mark the comparison as a workflow difference rather than a performance result.
- Capture review evidence. Save the plan, diff, logs, screenshots, recordings, checkpoint history, and test output. Note how many times you had to redirect the agent.
- Verify independently. Run the same formatter, linter, unit tests, integration tests, security checks, and manual UI checks. Do not count an agent’s claim that a test passed as the test result.
- Score the costs that matter to your team. Record elapsed human time, number of interventions, recovery effort, quota consumed, review clarity, and any unexpected network or file-system action.
This method can produce a recommendation for your repository and policies. It cannot be generalized into a universal claim that one product is faster, more accurate, or more reliable for everyone.
Common pitfalls
Mistaking browser control for complete end-to-end autonomy
Both products document browser tools, but browser access depends on authentication, permissions, environment, and plan. A screenshot or recording demonstrates what the agent observed; it does not prove that every user flow, device size, accessibility state, or production integration works.
Assuming an extension has the same surface as the standalone product
Antigravity’s supported editors have different platform and preview qualifications. Check the extension documentation for your exact IDE instead of assuming that every artifact, browser action, or enterprise control appears everywhere.
Using a plan price without checking what it covers
Antigravity’s free tier has basic weekly rate limits, while higher tiers use increased limits and credit pools. Cursor’s current pricing page mixes products and warns that third-party model usage can be billed separately. Compare included usage and account-specific terms, not a single headline number.
Treating rollback as source control
Cursor checkpoints can restore a code snapshot, and Antigravity diffs make edits reviewable. Neither replaces commits, branches, pull requests, backups, or an incident-recovery plan.
Letting an agent run sensitive commands without boundaries
Use least-privilege credentials, disposable environments, explicit approval for destructive commands, and normal code review. Browser and terminal tools can expose data or change external systems if permissions are too broad.
Bottom line
Antigravity is the more natural fit for a delegated, multi-agent workflow in which editor, terminal, browser activity, and task artifacts belong to one workspace. Cursor is the more natural fit for a developer who wants an integrated AI editor, direct repository and terminal control, browser-based checking, and checkpoint-based recovery. If both workflows sound right, decide with a controlled trial on your own repository and with the quotas, model access, editor support, and organizational terms your account actually provides.
