Good Tape has taken investment from Nordic Makers and launched Explore, a feature designed to find connections between new recordings and a user’s existing interview transcripts. The funding coincided with a management buyout that made the Copenhagen-based company independent from Danish newsroom Zetland, where the transcription tool began.
What is Good Tape Explore?
Explore is Good Tape’s archive-search feature: it connects a new recording with material a user has already transcribed, surfacing possible links such as changed opinions, contradictions, supporting arguments, or other relevant context. Results are linked to the original recording so users can check the underlying audio. That description comes from Tech.eu’s 1 October 2026 report and interview with Good Tape CEO Lasse Finderup; it is not an independent product test. Tech.eu
The distinction is that Explore is intended to help retrieve and connect material across an interview archive, rather than simply turn speech into text. For a reporter following a person or issue over time, it may make earlier interviews easier to revisit while working on a new story.
How might a journalist use Explore with old interviews?
- Record and transcribe a new interview. Add it to the archive alongside previously transcribed material.
- Review the connections Explore surfaces. A result might point to an earlier statement that appears to differ from a new one, or to relevant context from another interview.
- Open the linked original recording. Check the date, wording, and surrounding context before treating a connection as meaningful.
- Make the editorial decision yourself. A surfaced link does not establish that someone intended to contradict themselves, that a contradiction is real, or that an older remark represents their current view.
Finderup described the intended newsroom benefit this way: “You can add that extra layer that makes the article deeper.” That is the CEO’s view of the feature, not evidence of independently measured accuracy.

What does Explore not decide for the journalist?
Finding an old remark is not the same as deciding whether it is fair or appropriate to publish. A statement can be accurate but misleading when separated from its date, question, or surrounding conversation. Finderup said, “If you feel like you should get that quote approved, then you still do it.” Explore does not replace the usual reporting judgment about context, fairness, or whether to seek quote approval.
How did Good Tape’s funding relate to its management buyout?
Nordic Makers invested in Good Tape, with Alexander Aghassipour leading the investment and joining the board, according to Tech.eu. The investment coincided with a management buyout in which Finderup took majority ownership and bought out Zetland’s stake. Finderup summarized the change as: “We solved it with a management buyout.” The company thereby became independent from the newsroom where the product originated. Tech.eu
