Gone Feral puts you in the role usually reserved for the slasher: you stalk targets, use stealth and disguises, and try to turn fear into an advantage. Insider Gaming featured the retro-inspired horror game in its October 1, 2026, coverage of the 28 Games Later showcase. The trailer spotlights improvised weapons, roguelike runs, and solo or online co-op play—but the coverage gives no release date or price.

What is Gone Feral?

Gone Feral is presented as a retro-inspired slasher-horror game set in a world of summer-camp imagery, deadly weapons, and 1980s-themed violence. Instead of playing as someone trying to escape a killer, you take the role of the horror villain and hunt your targets. Insider Gaming’s trailer feature describes the game as a stealth co-op roguelike.

How does the gameplay work?

The central loop is built around stealth, disguise, and manipulation rather than simply charging into fights. You infiltrate areas, frighten victims, and use their reactions to create openings. Panicked victims may separate from a group or investigate a dangerous location, giving you a chance to control how an encounter unfolds.

Improvise with objects in the environment

Ordinary objects can serve as weapons or tools, with different properties such as noise, durability, throwing distance, and damage type. The trailer coverage cites a screwdriver for picking locks, a flashlight for blinding enemies, and a propane tank that can be used in a campfire. These examples frame the environment as part of the player’s toolkit, not just scenery.

Expect variation between runs

Insider Gaming describes randomized locations, items, and targets within an overall level layout that remains consistent. The game is also characterized as a roguelike in which failure has consequences. Its feature says progression can unlock character powers, weapons, lair decorations, tools, and areas.

Can you play solo or with friends?

The coverage describes both solo play and online co-op with friends. It does not specify player count, matchmaking options, cross-platform play, or whether every activity supports both modes.

What was the 28 Games Later showcase?

Insider Gaming’s October 1, 2026, roundup says the 28 Games Later: A Horror Showcase presented 28 games, including five world premieres, alongside release-date and beta announcements. Gone Feral was one of the titles featured, but the roundup’s mention of announcements across the event does not mean the game itself received a release-date announcement. Read Insider Gaming’s showcase roundup or visit its 28 Games Later Steam page; the latter is a showcase destination, not evidence that Gone Feral is released or available to buy.

Is Gone Feral released, and what platforms is it on?

The cited coverage does not state a release date, price, complete platform list, or whether a physical edition is planned. Its Steam link points to the broader showcase page, so it does not establish that Gone Feral is available to purchase. If the game is listed on that page, you can use Steam’s wishlist option to follow it there.
