The Goldair GCPAC350W is a reverse-cycle portable air conditioner with a stated 3.53kW cooling capacity and 2.58kW heating capacity. It also has dehumidification and fan modes, but the available public evidence does not establish how well it performs in independent tests or whether it is currently in stock. Treat it as a potentially useful all-season unit only if its window exhaust, room and safety requirements suit your space—and confirm the exact model’s price and availability before buying.
What the Goldair GCPAC350W offers
Goldair’s 2022 operating manual specifies cooling, heating, dehumidification and fan modes. It rates cooling at 12,000 Btu/h (3.53kW) and heating at 8,800 Btu/h (2.58kW). CHOICE rounds the cooling figure to 3.5kW and lists the same 2.58kW heating capacity. These are manufacturer and listing specifications, not independent measurements of real-world performance. How good is it in practice?
The published specifications show a dual-season unit with a relatively substantial stated cooling capacity for a portable appliance. They do not show how quickly it cools a room, how evenly it heats, how loud it is, or how much energy it uses over time. Those outcomes depend on test conditions and the room, and the available evidence does not provide a measured room-size recommendation or independent performance results.
CHOICE’s public page does not disclose its expert rating, cooling and efficiency scores, high-fan noise result, recommended room size or other test outcomes; those fields are behind member access. Installation and room requirements
This is not a place-and-run appliance: it needs an exhaust route through a window. Goldair’s manual requires the supplied exhaust hose and window sealing plate to be installed, the exhaust to remain unobstructed, and at least 300mm of clearance around the unit. It specifies that the hose can be extended from 280mm to 1,500mm as designed, but warns not to extend it beyond the specified arrangement or replace it with a different hose. Check that the window kit can seal your window and that the hose reaches without being stretched or blocked. Goldair operating manual.
The manual states: “WARNING: Appliance shall be installed, operated and stored in a room with a floor area larger than 11m2.” This is a minimum installation condition, not a claim that the unit will adequately heat or cool every room above that size. A room’s layout, insulation, sun exposure, ceiling height and open connections to other spaces can affect results; the sources do not establish a recommended maximum room area.

Safety and transport precautions
The manual warns: “Appliance is filled with flammable gas R290.” Keep the appliance away from ignition sources and follow the manual’s operating and storage precautions. For repairs, the manual directs users to an authorized service center; do not attempt refrigerant-system repairs yourself. Goldair operating manual.

If the unit has been transported or has been lying on its side, allow the refrigerant to settle for two hours before use, as directed by the manual. The unit is 28.45kg according to CHOICE, so consider how you will move it into position and whether you can manage the weight safely.

Price and availability
CHOICE’s page lists $849, but it also says there are no retailer prices or links available there. That figure is page information, not a verified current offer. Goldair’s support index identifies the GCPAC350W as a 3.5kW hot-and-cold portable air conditioner with Wi-Fi, while the current storefront collection reviewed lists other products and does not display this model. That absence does not prove the GCPAC350W has been discontinued. Confirm the exact model number, local stock, current price and applicable warranty with a seller before purchase. - It may fit if you want one portable appliance with cooling and heating modes, can install a window exhaust properly, and accept that independent test results and present-day stock are not established by the public sources.
- Look elsewhere or verify first if you need a confirmed noise level, measured energy efficiency, a dependable room-size recommendation, or a current retailer offer before deciding.
- Check the physical setup if your window cannot take the supplied sealing plate, the hose cannot reach the opening within its specified range, or you cannot leave the required clearance around the appliance.
Do not assume specifications for other Goldair models apply here. In particular, figures and warranty information published for the GPPAC300 are not evidence about the GCPAC350W.
