The Goldair GCPAC200 is a cooling-only portable air conditioner with a dehumidifier mode, remote, timer and included window kit. Its published specifications explain what it offers and how it must be installed, but the public CHOICE review does not reveal its test scores or measured performance. That means buyers can assess its features and installation needs, but cannot use the accessible review to confirm how well it cools, how noisy or efficient it is, or what it costs to run.
What the Goldair GCPAC200 offers
Goldair markets the GCPAC200 as a 2.06kW portable air conditioner. Its product listing gives it two speed settings, cooling and dehumidifier modes, a remote control, digital display and soft-touch controls, an adjustable thermostat, a 24-hour on/off timer and sleep mode. A window kit is included. Goldair’s product page lists dimensions of 695 × 310 × 300 mm, a weight of 30.5 kg and a one-year warranty.
Those are listed features, not evidence of real-world cooling performance. In particular, the stated capacity does not by itself establish the room size the unit can cool effectively.
What the public CHOICE review establishes
CHOICE’s GCPAC200 page identifies it as cooling-only and lists a 2.1kW cooling capacity, R290 refrigerant, a supplied window kit, a 1.5 m duct and three fan speeds. Its published fan-speed count differs from Goldair’s two-speed listing, and its weight figure differs substantially: CHOICE lists 20.38 kg, compared with Goldair’s 30.5 kg. CHOICE also lists dimensions as 70 × 31 × 30 cm.

These discrepancies are not resolved by the public pages. If the weight matters for moving or positioning the appliance, check the label on the current unit or its current manual before buying. Do not assume either source’s fan-speed or weight figure is definitive without that check.
CHOICE’s expert rating, cooling and efficiency scores, noise results, running costs and pros and cons are available only to members. The accessible information therefore does not support calling the GCPAC200 quiet, efficient, good value or effective for a particular room. Nor does it support ranking it against other portable air conditioners.

Installation requirements and safety
The GCPAC200 needs an exhaust route to the outdoors. Goldair says portable air conditioners need to be vented: the supplied hose and window kit direct hot air outside. The manual requires the exhaust pipe and window sealing plate assembly; using the appliance without this arrangement would not follow its installation instructions.

- Room size: The manual says the room must have a floor area greater than 7 m².
- Clearance: Place the unit on a flat surface with at least 300 mm of clearance on every side, including above.
- Exhaust hose: The specified hose length is 280–1,500 mm. Keep the exhaust unobstructed; do not extend it or replace it with a different hose.
- After transport: Allow the refrigerant to settle for two hours if the appliance has been transported or has been on its side.
The manual identifies R290 as a flammable refrigerant and warns: “Do not pierce or burn.” It also says to store the appliance in a room without continuously operating ignition sources. Follow the instructions in the GCPAC200 instruction manual, and check Goldair Support’s cooling manual listing for the current manual.

Price and warranty
Goldair’s Australian product page displayed A$399, reduced from A$449, when retrieved on 7 October 2026. That is a dated price snapshot, not a guaranteed current offer. CHOICE lists A$449 as the tested-model price but does not state when that price was recorded.
Goldair’s product listing states a one-year warranty. The manual says domestic use is covered for one year and non-domestic use for three months. Check the current official warranty terms for the unit and intended use before purchase.

Who should consider it?
The published information may suit a buyer who wants a portable, cooling-only unit with a dehumidifier setting, remote and timer, and whose room and window can accommodate the specified venting arrangement. It is a less straightforward choice if your decision depends on verified room suitability, measured noise, energy use or running cost: those results are not publicly disclosed on the CHOICE page.
For a useful comparison with another portable air conditioner, look for independently measured cooling performance, energy use and running costs, noise, installation compatibility, physical dimensions, weight, warranty and current price. The available GCPAC200 test information is not sufficient to make a performance-based comparison.
